i dont think the stock wastegates come in two pieces. when i received my wastegate from EVOMS, it came unassembled and i had to fidget with it for a bit to get it right. once I got it all together, i had the dealer bolt them up but it had like a screw to put the two lines together? glad RPM took care of you guys.

With a few tweaks.
I got the same problem on my ponctuators, frst the left side broke, then 300 km later the right one...:-( Todd from proto knew about the rods failure from Evoms wastegate..welcome to the club...:-) Sorry for your troubles..
sweet cant wait until the other one breaks. So what did you do?

Same thing happened to me yesterday on the Passenger side EVOMS wastegate, the rod simply snapped in the middle. Did anyone find out any possible causes?

Does anyone know where I can find a bent rod like that. I have emailed mike at evo but if you are on please help!!!! Also, it says he is not allowing PM's, are they still a sponsor??
Anyone else ever had this problem? Any ideas on causes?

You guys needto contact EVMOS and havethem provide a replacement. Sees to me that the parts are flawed. I also was thinking of getting a pair but not until they fix this issue........

None of the actuator rod pieces will work with your after-market turbo. The compressor housing is larger, hence all the bends in the assembly. I have broken several. Tial sent me some made of stainless steel that I ran for awhile with no breakage.
Roadster Doc is exactly right about the threaded rod. The stress risers created by the bends on a rod that has cut threads will ultimately lead to failure with any of them, in my opinion.
The ultimate solution, albeit expensive once all plumbing is done, is to go to Tial 44mm external waste gates. You can control your boost with the spring or spring package in the WG and can make an even better setup if you add an electronic boost controller.
If you are looking for just an increase to 1.1-1.2 why don't most programs just have this threshold of 1.1-1.2 written in the ecu code like fvd does? with the fvd program there is no need for these spring upgrade. the stock version works fine with the fvd turbos and set up.

Don't get exactly what you mean. As I understand it the code is what is responsible for sending the message via rubber hose to the wastegate actuator which in turn opens the wastegate. Otherwise it would be entirely spring-dependent and not a function of commands from the ECU. How would the wastegate hold boost until the proper time without the ECU telling it to do so and having the actuator rod iinvolved to control the gate?
Surely the FVD setup involves a wastegate actuator rod? this guy just wants to stop breakage and probably without swapping out his turbos.
sorry for the misinformation al, the fvd uses an electronic boost control and uses the stock wg's.
yes the fvd turbos have an actuator rod and appears to be stock these don't appear the ones to have problems with breakage. It's the EvO units that have a track record of breakage as the Evo units are different than the stock version. Are the rods of a diff design?
