Oak,

Now it makes sense.

I don't know what turbos FVD uses but perhaps they aren't as big as the ones on cohare's car. After a certain point the compressor gets so large in diameter that an offset rod must be utilized because of the fixed position of the wastegate actuator and the linkage rod on the wastegate. If the turbos aren't very large then I suppose stock linkage can be used.

As I mentioned eaarlier in this thread, his ultimate solution will be external wastegates which eliminates the rods altogether. I also suggested an EBC.

My drivers side rod broke a few days ago. I'm going to see if I can get it welded back together tomorrow AM.

I had my welded and re-adjusted.
The alternative on mine (K24/18g's) was to have Proto make me a new one.

good luck and the driver and passenger sides are different.
As it was, the passenger side is the difficult one to get at.

As far as I know...Kevin sells the wastegate "kit" which contains a stiffer spring and a set of retaining rings to put your OEM wastegate back togetehr after you break it open and remove/replace the springs...then put it back together again with the retainer rings and screws which sandwich both sides of the split wastegate back together and pinch the diaphram back in place. Uses the OEM parts, hence no problems come up with the actuator rods breaking. This is not a bolt-on process and involves some better than average or novice know-how....but the results are worth it.

My broken Evoms wastegate actuator issue has recently turned worse, appearently this is a symptom of my other turbo blowing. My driver side turbo is now "out of thrust" not totally sure I know what that means, but it needs to be rebuilt/replaced. I am told the broken wastegate tried to compensate for the broken turbo and broke the weakened actuator. I wont get into design or build philosophy. Bottom line, there are a bunch breaking.

Im not saying that a broken actuator is a sure sign of a blown turbo, Im sure it is one of many scenarios. I'd like to hear more from others about this.

btw, I am looking for a pair of oem wastegate actuators if anyone has a set laying around. PM me please.
