Shopping around for a tune, anyone know what I should expect to put down with k16/24's, intake, exhaust and 91 octane? Also, is vivid still running the special with the free durametric cable?

You will get the best most convenient tune with Softronic Numerous reasons why. Others also dont have the capability or database to offer this tune. The Durametric special is over, but I will give you a little break on it still.

It has not even been a week since owning my X50 and this site alone has convinced me to break open the wallet and get some more power (like many of you warned me). After reviewing, and prodding at several tuners (GIAC guys, Softronic, Protomotive etc) I opted for Vivid's Softronic flash. Not only for the price (roughly $1k cheaper than others) but the compatibility with various mod paths really impressed me.
I still have the dv's and K&N on order, but I flashed my car last night and what most impressed me in fact was the responsiveness of Dan and Scott. My buddy's laptop actually crashed twice during the install which literally made me sh*t my pants, but due to those guys being permanently tied to their inboxes, I was able to get the download back on track and completed in minutes.
I have yet to "get on" the car since the flash as I wanted to wait for the intake and dv's, but on the advice of Dan I will go for a drive tonight and post my thoughts.

Well I installed the Forge dv's on the weekend, so I am in a somewhat better position to respond. Overall the car seems more responsive. Though it seems to peak at 1.1-1.2 bar then fall off to 0.8-0.9 bar. It may be a boost leak, but I changed all the clamps to screw-tight ones and double and triple checked, so personally I don't think its that. What Dan suggested, and I would be interested to hear what other k24 guys think, is that it may be the more restrictive stock exhaust holding back steady boost...

Since you come from a DSM background, you know when you put a downpipe on how the boost creeps up a little because of the flow... kinda like that. It seems as if though something is slightly leaking still. I would double check everything again. The flash has the boost set, so any taper would be caused by a leak, restriction, etc.
Big question is does it feel better?

Well that's the odd part, is that even running 0.9 bar (which I think is the stock level on k24's) the car does seem more responsive and faster.

Dan from Vivid Racing helped me flash my 996TT while I was at the Texas Mile. Unfortunately I do not have any great numbers while at “The Mile” to gush over…. Yet… I can tell you that on the first day of the event I made several passes all of which were pretty consistently around 165MPH. We flashed the car on Saturday and right afterwards I let a friend make a pass , his pass was at 167MPH however he had never driven the car before or even a Porsche for that matter. On Sunday I got to make one pass which again was at 165MPH however what transpired on that pass was just sad. Everything was going great until I shifted from 5th to 6th no wait I shifted to 4th instead, then back to 5th and finally to 6th – I am not proud of it just trying to be fair. So I matched my previous runs even with a pretty serious driver error. The car seems to deliver power much earlier in the RPM range than it did stock which makes drivability much better. I have also noticed an increase in Fuel economy – Pre Flash I was averaging about 16.5MPG Post flash I am averaging 22MPG that alone will pay for the flash over the life of the car. I plan to Dyno the car and then change out the stock exhaust to Cats and Straight pipes. I also have plans to lower the car 1inch, with the goal of 175MPH at the next “Mile” in march. Am I addicted to this type of event — you bet your ass I am .

At do not have the time to answer all your questions Dan. But i can say that i am 100% satisfied with my Softronic flash. It was the easiest and most impressive mod i have made to my car. I think thee price is a bargin for sure.
I am running the stock k16 turbos with Milltek exhaust, Agency Power CF intake and Agency Power DV valves (all purchased from vivid). The car drove perfect, power was very strong compared to stock. The car even sounded better at WOT.
I hope to purchase larger turbos soon and have Dan/vivid re-flash the car.
100% recommended

I highly recommend you get and install 1 Bar Wastegate actuators for sustained boost, mine are set to crack at 13psi. Stock Wastegates can Chatter at higher boost and open the gates prematurely.
Mine is a 1.3 bar Flash and runs beautifully! The fact that you can do it yourself back and forth from stock is brilliant! The Folks at softronic offer a great service and support (as does Vivid).
The car runs perfectly, in fact FAR better than the stock program. Whether in traffic, poodling about at beachm or at WOT on the freeway, it is as smooth as silk. At lease IMHO.
As you can see I am VERY satisfied Softronic Customer. Also if you have a Durametric Logger you can use that interface to do the programming. Both are available as a package from Softronic. Their customer support is also very responsive for any questions. Although it is pretty much Flash and forget. I am going to go with a 50/40 Water to Methanol injection system sooner or later (Waiting for a deal on the HFS-6 Kit ), it will need to be tweeked a bit for that and they will do it at no extra charge. You can also take it from car to car when you sell or upgrade.
I average 16-19psi with spikes of 20-22psi. (Measured by my own Peak Hold Gauge not the stock one) I designed one with a 20, 25, 30 or 40 LED readout just for this type of thing it is accurate to .125 - .250 psi. You can put the LEDS any place you have room.
Go for it.

Welcome! It is a fantastic (and Flexible) solution IMHO.
PS. Sorry to deviate from the thread, but. I am still waiting for you folks to give me preferred quote on a HFS-6? Still no answer from when I emailed your web site.
I may also have another member that is interested. Any chance of a Group But on them?
