I've had it for 2 years now and no problems whatsoever.

Eventually I will get around to a much higher HP package. There are so many choices in tuners that it was simply easier to go with the generic cheaper UPsolute to hold me over until I make a decision on which tuner/package to go with.

I've had upsolute and this is what happend with my exhaust valve (see picture)
I asked upsolute if their program could have caused this but they never answered.
They've checked everything in my garage but they didn't find anything what could have caused my exhaust valve to melt.
So upsolute is history for me...

98 octane; that's with an additive? Pump only goes to 93.

I am by no means an expert, BUT, I do know that a very important question you should be asking yourself is...
HOW FAR ARE YOU willing to go, or better said... where is your goal with the car?
If you actually think you'll be happy with a mere flash, well then, upsolute may be for you....
BUT, IF You are here on this forum I see it impossible... to not WANT to go beyond a flash when you have guys like Tweety and the Doc going at each other. Or the crazy 10 second 1/4 quests by all.. some even 9's!! or the 60-130 standings... You will find yourself wanting to participate and be able to contribute to it ALL!!!!
SO, my friend... will you be happy with a tune.... probably for the first hour or so.... then you will soon realize you should of invested a little more time in figuring out where you want to go with your car and get yourself a "kit" or "pkg" like PROTO 600 700 1000... or vivids or rpms or whomevers...point is .... YOU would of flushed that coin down the tubes coz YOU WILL NEED A TUNER BROTHER>... and the closer or more accesible the better... I went with TODD coz of Dj Marski's punch buggy.... lol...inside joke there.... I listened to him coz HE had way more knowledge (experience) and saved me hundreds$$$$$$ thousands$$$$ through all his trials and tribulations... I didnt want to make same mistakes he made... So, get to know some of the guys here... there are fantastic ppl here... Get to know them...ask questions... compare pricing.. look at the tons of videos... make a budget and GO FOR IT...
You will soon find yourself probably doing something really fun soon enough!!
just my 2cents bro.!

How could software do this without any other mechanic problems?

Too much timing? Too much boost? Not enough fuel? Combination of some or all? Whichever way you go with your tune, it pays to have your car dynoed with your tune, it will help eliminate issues pictured above. Any good tuner will tune in safety as well as HP and TQ.

RichardCH is in Switzerland I believe... (hence the CH?) EU octane and USA octane is rated differently.

I get 100 octane at the pump here in CA.... (true, not many stations have those pumps)

Finally, you might want to read up on software and how it can affect the engine. Surely a burnt valve is possible. In this case who knows...

Riley, You're new to the 996TT community, so I'll give you my 18months worth of head start on you...

My car came to me (I'm the second owner) with an Upsolute tune. It was essentially "free", since it was on the car when I bought it, but I'm under no illusion, I've paid for it...

I upgraded from the upsolute after only 9 months on it. There is simply NO comparison between the Upsolute and my UMW tune. Hands down, the Upsolute is worse in every single area of performance.

I'll never recommend Upsolute to anyone, based on my experience alone.

Mike

I appreciate the head start . If performance-wise it's mediocre, sounds counterproductive for me as well. My ultimate goal is to get as extreme as I can afford; probably similar to you .

No No, Not from "just a performance wise" standpoint... The throttle response was horrid...Driving it on the street was NOT what it should have been... LAZY is an understatement.

You're not that far from me. When I get my car's clutch hydraulic issues resolved, we need to hook up and you can drive the car...
