Upsolute crap?

So what is the deal with Upsolute software? I read mixed opinions. I'm thinking a flash will be my first mod and I want/need the most bang for my small buck .

Hamann7 is right. If you HAVE to cheap out somewhere, DON'T let it be your tune. Most any tune will give you a modest increase, find someone that will give you good service and stick with them. There is a ton of info on this forum about tunes and tuners. Some good, some not so good. Everyone has their favorite. Maybe do what I did, find a tuner with the least amount of controversy and closest to you.

True, but conversely one can also be 'taken to the cleaners' with overpricing .

Good suggestion. AWE is pretty close to me and I haven't seen much 'controversy' with them so far...

Is the perception purely based on it's lower price or nightmare stories? I'd like to hear some actual experiences .

AWE uses GIAC tuning software. FYI.

Do searches on UMW, softronic, protomotive, giac, epl, custom tune, upsolute and fvd (sorry if I forgot a tuner) and read a lot. Recently several vendors have lowered prices a huge amount.....so keep that in mind.

Good luck.

Upsolute is perfectly safe. There were some CEL (check engine light) complaints about 5 years ago, but that is history. They offer real performance for a low price. Are they the best? I don't think so. Can they custom tune? No, but they do have different files depending on your turbo. Will your engine blow up from their tuning? No, there are no reports of unsafe tunes. Will you get a performance increase over stock? Yes. Will your car be faster than another car with a different tune and the same bolt ons? Maybe so, but probably not. Will it drive like stock (throttle modulation, etc)? It may be different, as with many other tunes. In the days when you could not buy programming anywhere for under $3000, it was a breath of fresh air. But now there is more than one tuner offering flashes for under $1500. If your goal is to build the fastest car that you can, go custom. If you want a power increase from stock and are on a budget, Upsolute makes sense to me.

For a very good boost in power on an otherwise stock car, it is a good
way to go, and clearly the most cost-effective. If you plan on going
further, you'll replace it. I have raced and won with Upsolute since 2001.

Thanks, good info. As much as I want a 650 hp beast, it is not likely to happen; probably will finance a second toy before charging $20K. So limited mods on this 996TT is more realistic for me. What other mods do you have?

I had an Upsolute flash and had zero problems. It is the most bang for the buck.
