Titan Motorsports Project 996TT Official Build Thread
I've always enjoyed reading build-up threads on forums, but never had one of my own. With the acquisition of our latest project car a bone stock 996TT I figured it would be a good time to start. We've always built wild street cars and race cars from the ground up, and this one will be no different. We've always felt that a light weight street car is a great place to start, and a lightweight street car with a ton of horsepower is even better. This car will be used to test our power packages, and further develop individual parts as well. Our initial goals will be straight line (mile, 1/4, highway), but we also plan to have the car setup to run well at time attack and local DEs. Let the fun begin.
Day 1.
We locate a Silver / Gray 996TT in Charlotte, NC. We where already traveling there for an ADRL race so it made for a nice pitstop. Our friends at Underground Racing loaned us a lift to do a quick PPI, we signed some papers, exchanged funds and the car was ours. The car is a 6spd car with 64,000 miles. We plan on driving it hard, just as our customers would and want to experiment with a higher mileage car that has some wear. We drove the car 500 miles home with no problems, and look forward to getting started on the build.

Next on the list was to get rid of some dead weight. We pulled the car into the shop and put our trusty Accuset scales to work. We made sure the car had a full tank of gas after our roadtrip, making sure we had consistent fuel weights included for future sessions.
We carefully place the scales under the lift and lowered the car down to get a base weight.
Total : 3,476lbs LF 679 / RF 653 / LR 1071 / RR 1073
We popped the hood and removed the spare tire and existing tools, as they likely won't fit our future BBK and we have some HRE's on the way.
Total : 3,437 LF 649 / RF 633 / LR 1081 / RR 1074
A 39lb drop in weight off the front of the car.
Next up we grabbed a few wrenches and removed the disc changer, rear seat, and floormats.
The end result was a total weight loss of 74lbs. Not bad for less than a half hours work and no money spent.

If you've got em, might as well use em
Once started tearing int other car I was about to rip all the trunk and interior panels out as well, but decided we should probably stop here for this portion of the build. We are going to remove the rear wiper still, install a lightweight battery, and possibly install some seats as well and will re-scale.
I'll try and get a baseline dyno for the car in the next week. We're going to do the basic K24/18G upgrade at first and install a Tilton to have some fun over the winter.

We'd be selling ourselves short with a Gt700 kit for this project. Now a custom spec'd turbo setup with Motec plug and play kit, that's sounds a bit closer to the end result.
