Motor Mounts

Does anyone have any info on which ones to get. I noticed that there are RS, WEVO, X73, Cup?

First question is do these mounts come with corresponding trans mounts? I never hear about trans mounts.

Second question, what are the best places to find these. I looked on suncoast website and no mounts listed.

Third, the wevo mounts are for C2S cars. No mention of turbo 996 in our years.

WEVO mounts are univiersal to the 964-993-996. You do have to source your own bolts, but it's not a big deal.

The cupcar tranny mount is way to harsh for street use, from what I've been told...It's not friendly to the front diff mount!

Mike, thanks.
Any advantage to the Wevo? So they don't come with bolts, so you just buy replacements for the originals?

As for the trans mount, better then to just go for a stock replacement unit?

Speaking from experience, X73 mounts are an improvement over stock and an excellent compromise between performance and noise/vibration. I noticed benefit with little to no change in comfort. I have no experience with the other mounts.

The 997TT tranny mount has improved stiffness over the 996TT mount. Basically it has more rubber and less air. The part number supercedes the 996TT part so if you order it for your 996TT from Porsche you get the improved 997TT part. I filled the remaining air pockets with silicone and let it sit for a few days before installing it. I do not know if the silicone made a difference but I figured it is compliant yet stiffer than air, so why not!

X73 mounts sound like a good compromise. The 997tt tranny mount sounds like a good idea. also makes a lot of sense.

I like RoadsterDoc's Idea on the 997 tranny mount. I like the WEVO mount in black for a steet car. Not sure about the X73s, but The Wevo's are recommended by the 996/997 GT3 crowd!

I went with the WEVO, the stiffest and best upgrade if you drive hard otherwise it wont matter. forget the tranny mount.

just by looking at them they looked like they might be weaker than the RS, but if they have taken all your (and Mikes) tracking, they must be stout.

They are $150 each, so I am assuming that the RS's are about 500 a pair?

now for the big question, what size bolt is needed, length, dia., TPI? I am doing everything at once, so I won't have the stockers with me until after. if you guys don't know, no biggie.

I went from standard > X73 > RS mounts.

Standard > X73 very noticeable improvement. (Street driving)

X73 > RS not a noticeable difference. (Street driving)

The WEVO mount's look great from an finish standpoint.

I also went from X73 to RS Mounts although I did feel a slight difference from X73 to RS. The RS's were lighter and offered more stiffness than the X73's, good with the added power.

Haven't tried Wevos yet, but have heard good things.

Perfect timing for this thread...I recently noticed at the last track event a little bit of difficulty shifting into third on some sections of the track and figured the motor mounts are the culprit.

Will check with my shop and see which ones they would recommend. Leaning more towards the Wevo's as this car is doing most time at the track vs. street.

Have any links to these parts? I also notice occasional shifting difficulties on track under cornering loads and wondered about the motor mounts.

I also want to thank Mike, Tom and all for the help and information.
I called Wevo, and they didn't want to recommend any of their current
motor mounts for the 996tt, but they said they are releasing such a
mount in August:

"
We don't currently have an engine mount product for the 996tt.
There are people using our C2 SS mount, that is designed for
964 and 993 chassis, but this is not a direct install into the 996
Chassis either NA or tt and we do not supply alternate parts to
make that installation. We have a 997 SS Engine mount being
released on August 1st 2009. This is reverse compatible with
996 and would be our suggestion as the correct component for
your car.
Regards Hayden Burvill"

Pretty much the same response I got from the guy when I called this morning. But it apparently does work
