clutch life is all over the board, it will depend alot on how you drive and how modified you are. I don't have experience (knock on wood) with a tranny rebuild but from what I've seen around here its going to be $8k+

Mine was 6k or so, new standard syncros on all gears, several custom things to avoid another 2nd gear issue, the labor, fluids, etc. I did not have funds for a cooler and I was told for 20 minute DE sessions in "my" use of the car a cooler was not needed. Right now, I wish I had added a cooler or at least ports....
See the 2nd gear pop-out thread for my trials and tribulations.
I used a cup car friendly shop in Philly. Great guys. My price may be off...it may have been 6500...cannot remember. No issues since then...none. Smooth as butter.

Well I have been quoted higher prices because I'm replacing the main shaft with another that allows for replacing 1st gear (First gear is a machined part of the existing mainshaft and if you damage it, you can't replace it without chucking the whole shaft which is $3000-3500!). I'm doing steel gears in the 3-6 spread at $300 per gear, so there's $1200 worth just in gears. I'm also having them tap the case for an aftermarket heat exchanger/cooler setup. I expect minimum to have $7K in mine, plus the GT2 clutch hydraulic conversion ($1000) and most likely a new release bearing and new clutch disc (Another $600-800?).
If you want to make it bulletproof, it's pricey!

I've been quoted around $3500-4500 from 2 recommended Porsche trans specialists and this is assuming there is no major damage inside the trans and this includes making sure the 2nd gear pop-out does not occur again. But I would have to R&R and ship to their locations as they are both out of state. I may do it at some point but it's not a priority for me now.....

That's very reasonable as long as you're not having any first gear issues... Probably what I'd be looking at if I didn't have a first gear issue... However, 2 years ago the Mainshafts for these trannys were selling for $2K... Now they're supposedly $3000-3500. You're gonna have about $200 in shipping a tranny out, and then another $200-ish getting it shipped back. I could go this route, but really just want to have my Indy deal with it if possible. I don't think My car will be going in on Monday now. Probably going to be waiting until after the september event. I'll just be nursing it along until then.

If I could find a new GT2 or GT3 tranny right now, I'd be all over it... Kevin at UMW had a bunch of brand new GT2 trannys back in the winter of 07/08 and he tried to get me to buy one of them then... Shoulda coulda woulda...

That 300 would be the steel synchros- not the gears-they are much more pricey.

I got a new shaft, all gears, some custom machine work on the fork to let second "interdigitate fully" so as to avoid the pop-out again.... The cup car shop asked me how I would use my car....dd and some de. So, steel synchros were out as they would be too loud for me (wife, kids, etc.). They were quite adamant that for an not track toy steel was too loud. Then again, lots of people on this forum have done it. I just did not want to screw up the car and make it, if needed, un-sellable....
So far, it shifts perfectly. Shop was DAS in Philly. They do roll bars too...subsidiary. A family member started CDOC. They get it. Tell them Jeff with blue turbo from Hershey (old location) sent you...I no longer am in the area, but you never know when you need help and I just want them to know I sent them a customer. Fair all around. Not cheap but no errors and no worries and not a rip off either, but you get what you pay for at this level. They guy who did my tranny was the crew chief of a speed world gt car crew/team... He show me the whole things, a cup car's unit, all sorts of data was shared. It was a great way to learn about the high end world (and the money needed to live there...not in my pockets any time soon..cup cars rock, btw..not too expensive, but the cost to keep them going is the issue...).

I'm having mine done at the moment. 64k miles, a bit surprised that
I still have over 50% clutch left. First owner of the vehicle drove it 20k miles and was driven by a female. Not bad also considering i taught myself how to drive stick shift in this vehicle as well. What is the usual mileage people see out of their clutch?

i was quoted 8/9k originally a few weeks ago prior to repair, by my d'ship BEFORE it was "determined" that the replacement of the 2nd gear and synchros would be covered under my pcna warranty.
after work was then completed, the total on the invoice paid by pcna was approx 5200.00. that tells ya pretty much all ya need to know about dealer "markups" on repairs that a customer pays for vs warrantied work paid to a dealer by pcna.
what the cost of repairing the (stage 2/3) oil leak! ( ack! ..NOT the RMS i am told(?!??) that then developed immediately after the trans issue was remedied will be something i will find out in about an hour. all i know is the engine had to come out two times in as many weeks.
every day i thank every diety i can think of that i bought the warranty with the car.
i'm going to go get it now. the trans/shifting is smooth like butter, and i ain't gonna fk it up, that's for sure. car runs like new now and i'll be thankful that my tt no longer will drip oil like my old flattracker triumph.. NEVER DID. ha!
lastly.. am told i've got about 70% left on clutch @ 34k miles and can only imagine i'd have 80/85% had i had the car from new. car was very well taken care of.. but SOMEONE fkd the trans... just wasn't me.
