I took my car to SharkWerks this morning for the TCU upgrade; it took about two hours mainly the TCU is difficult to get to. Todd from EVOMs is in town, together with SharkWerks, the upgrade went quite well, along with the ECU EVOMSit upgrade (sync up the rpm with the TCU).
Here’s my first impression (30 miles driving back):
· the auto down shift is much better than before; it starts downshifting at higher speed
· much much better respond when using the switch to down shift; it is like instant
· I hit 7000 rpm once; it had a really good jump/pop when going to the next gear
· the up shift is a tick better
· the gears seem to hold better (the shifting too early feeling is gone)
I’ll give a better report a week or two later; but for now, the impression is positive. Many thanks to Alex , James, and Todd (as a Pcar guru, I thought Todd maybe a cold guy, but I was totally wrong; he is super friendly).

It was nice to finally meet you Eugene. Your car was fitted with our first production GT660 for a tip car about 18 months ago. Now it was the first GT660 to get the TCU upgrade I enjoyed the little test drive that I took in it. Take care and enjoy your car - Todd

Hey Eugene, it was/is a real pleasure! The tip tuning has been a pet peve of mine since the days of my mid 10 second tip in 2004. I remember back then thinking "if only". So when Todd showed us the 997TT Tip results a few months ago I knew it'd be a matter of time for the 996TT. Honestly, things that used to seem unattainable or impossible in the past now take a matter of hours these days. I learned so much in a few days, what with the F430 tuning and of course our 2010 GT3...
Your car is a real screamer I came back from the test just smiling... She really shifts faster and goes deeper into the revs to boot
Feed Todd cookies and he's happy:P

Will this TCU upgrade mean much to a stock x50? I don't have much complaint about my car other than the transmission...which due to me trying to play good husband so my wife can drive it. Especially coming from SMG in my 03 M3, this tip does seem very slow.

Alex,
I've been talking to ZIP22 on the board; his F430 tuned by you guys is screaming at 8800rpm. Todd mentioned that he'll try getting the 997TT to like 8500rpm; hummm maybe a little more juice for the 996TT.

Hi Beckham23, my advice would honestly be to do the ECU software first. That will get you a lot more power. We could certainly do the TCU by itself but I look at it as "icing" on the cake
