Proto 24/20g VS Softronic 24/18g TODAY.

Well, Ben(Bmoores) and I just ran some 60-130's at the track. We weighed his car at 3340lbs and mine is 3320lbs on the same scale. He (Full Proto Kit with 24/20's 6 speed) was running 93 octane at 1.2 bar and I (24/18g's with Softronic Tip) was running Sunoco104 at 1.4 bar. The temp was 64 degrees with 90%+ humidity.

We also did a couple roll ons from 40mph in third gear to 150. His turbos spooled more quickly it seemed and jumped a car length on me. I finally reeled him in around 115 or so. BUT, he is on pump gas and I'm sure he will walk me pretty good at 1.4 and higher when he drops in the smelly stuff. I am very impressed with his pump gas 60-130. His car is serious!!! I'm going to enjoy this while I can. Thanks Ben.

Thanks for posting guys.

How different do you think the result would be if Todd'ss car was a
6-speed instead of Tip?

Not sure my shift times seemed a little off on the graphs. Normally I'm a bit quicker but its hard to say. All depends on how well Todd can drive a stick. That is with me on pump and him on race. Race vs. race would be a different story i suspect.

I'd be dead. Ben is a way better driver than me on a 6 speed.

Very nice guys. I was gonna go out today, but didn't feel like putting DR's on. It was 60 here today. Hmmm, that Tippy Todd is getting too close...maybe tomorrow....

It's gonna take a miracle to break into the 5's. But I'm going to try.

Ben,

For a point of reference, I ran a 7.1 on pump at 1.1 bars but the weather was 15 degrees colder, so your car is very strong.

That same day I ran my 5.79 at 1.5 bars. That is why I asked if you are tuned for C 16 because if you are you can run 1.5 bars safely and should run around a 5.7-5-8.

All this is speculation but I would be very pleased with how your car ran today.

+1

Knighton told me (and I believe Markski did too), the 24/20's love boost
1.5 or so and of course C16 and tune to match.

Nice runs guys

Another important point...Ben got the jump...were you brake boosting?

If that is the case that is HUGE. My car was much more laggy compared to your (Todds') car.

The big diff must be the full Proto intake and RSS plenum contributing to a much much faster spool up. I can't wait to get mine (plus 75 mm TB) installed.

Brake boosting has changed the Validity of comparing various cars around the world
using 60-130 mph as the tool.

For those of us who are a little slow(or who don't know ), please explain how you brake boost in a 60-130.

Brake boosting is: modulating the throttle and the brake simultaneously, in an effort to build some boost. When you let off the brake, you are already accelerating under (some) boost. VERY effective in roll racing.
