napboy that is crazy love it i want one,may it's to radical for a sunday drive... but what a car .. i was luckey enough to watch a friend rebuild one early this summer , he was right its a little loud for daily driving once a week would be great, guess i'd just sleep with it the rest of the time

Are you kidding? The car is BRUTALLY fast especially if you aren't ready for those turbos to kick in. The visceral experience in that car is unmatched... modern Ferraris are so dainty, this car makes a Scuderia feel like a Cadillac.
I saw a guy driving one up I95 in miami it was so loud his girlfriend looked miserable. I was so jealous. I would love to own one.
Wonder if thats the same one by me, theres a guy I see usually once a week driving his around here and I've seen him haul getting onto the highway going south (towards Miami? lol)... and his F40 is loud as hell, never heard one as loud as his.
There was also one in Malibu where the guy would use his F40 to grab groceries, run errands, and just cruise up and down PCH. His girlfriend was the founder of NuSkin. Makes me want to go out and find a wealthy cougar of my own.
One of my friends owns one and it is quite the animal.. He has modified it to about 600 HP. One thing though.. upkeep costs are brutal and once after doing a trackday at Sears Point, we were loading it onto the trailer and the chassis twisted so badly that the windshield popped out !!!! It has a very spartan interior and is noisy as hell... I wish I could afford one, it's one of the all time great Cars ever made.

And on that note, how cool would it have been if Porsche had made the 996tt exhaust come out like that.... ala 997gt3?
Oh, nevermind. We will see it in the model 2016 turbo, along with "new" headlights......and not much else......

PM me for a link to 996 shop manuals
2400 lb twin turbo 2.9 V8 with 471 hp? yeah I'd say that's fast
I wish Ferrari still made these super small displacement engines like they used to. Not necessarily in place of what they have now, but in addition to it.
Imagine a modern-tech Ferrari 2.8L V12 that revs like a sport bike!
Maybe a super lightweight 2.0L turbo V8, like a 1980 208 GTB. Or even a 2.0 V12, like a 1949 Ferrari 166 S.
Are you really buying an F40 for how fast it is? Or even to drive it fast? That is the question. If that is the case, buy something else.

Are you gonna stick an S badge on it if you buy one?
it could be an f40S
it would be really rare
Hey EvilRiva, you've posted a whopping 22 times, how many of them have been berating our friend Steve? Nice ratio. He's been an active and fun member to have around here. He's also suffered a stroke not too long ago and has shared his unfortunate situation with us. We've all been supporting him and rooting him on as he recoups. He's gone from having very little use of his left side, to where he can now drive his 6-speed without any problems. He's an inspiration to many of us here. You, you're a troll who has added nothing. In fact your thread about putting a "Turbo S" badge on a Carrera was ...oh wait, it was posted to give a hard time to Steve, VERY classless and now your remark above...Go back to your Toyubie Evossan forums. Here on the 6, even at times of disagreement, we usually use a little more maturity in our approach. For example, if you really didn't like the impostor "Turbo S" badge, then simply say, something along the lines of "you own a Turbo which is an amazing car in it's own right, you really don't need to try to pass it off as an 'S' ". See how that's done? He gets the point and you don't come off as an A$$hole. So, hopefully, you'll rejoin this forum after you mature a little, bit, but I think you need a break from this forum under your current name and attitude. Bye.

That video was awesome. I'd love to have one when I win the lotto lol But seriously Steve, I'd stay clear unless you truly have ridiculous amounts of money burning a hole in your pocket and want one as a collector, not to replace the 996TT. Just watching that video tells me quite a few things about that car:
Pros
-BEAUTIFUL engine note
-GOBS of punch you in the gut power
-Racecar that can be driven on the street
-amazing handling
-exclusivity, you'll be the envy of all around you
Cons
-HEAVY clutch
-Tough to get in 1st gear (had visions of my old 915 transmission before I went to the newer 915 trans)
-looked like he was only driving this car at about 6-7/10ths and it was STILL a handful on that track
-Racecar that wont be very happy on the street
-Maintenance costs will have you taking out a second mortgage on the house
-You'll be afraid to park it in the same parking lot as another car for fear of even the slightest breeze brushing up against your car lol
