Question Driver side headlamp "Flicker" ????

I just waited a week for a new headlamp from Pelican and once installed... you guessed it, FLICKER!!!

1. Is it certain that it needs a ballast? If so, does anyone know where I can get a used one (THAT WORKS) for a decent price?

2. Can the Litronic system be upgraded/changed to something without the ballast systems? I would think that with modern LED and Xenon technology someone would understand that all it needs is a 12 volt supply.

As always THANKS for any responses.

Not one person has had this issue? Hard to believe. Come on folks, a new ballast is $600 and am trying to deter that expense for a simple ballast assy.

Likely a loose connection. Get the headlight removal tool back out from the tools that came with the car and loosen the headlight, push it back in, and re-tighten.

Mine was the connection behind the plug in, same thing, pushed it in clipped in tight, light was sitting in tight, still flickered, found out the wire going into the plug mount was partially cracked??? Just my experience...

When it comes to cleaning the contacts, what process do you guys use?

Thus far I have replaced:

1. Headlight.
2. Headlight switch.

next up is the ballast if the cleaning doesn't work.

I believe there is a relay to the right of the battery. Check that.

When you take the headlight out check the little pins.... I had the same problem and one of the pins on the connector was bent probably from the last time I put it in slightly off. I straightened the pin and all was good.

OK, finally got around to pulling out the headlamp assembly, damn I'm getting fast about it. Disconnected the battery, used contact cleaner and cleaned all the pins on the socket in the fender and cleaned each connector pin with a small file, then gave three doses of contact cleaner. Let dry, re-assembled it AND = FLICKER.

DAMN IT. So, I pull the headlamp assembly back out, take off the back of the Xenon ballast area to check everything inside, all looks good. I guess it is off to buy a ballast now. So in summary:

Thus far I have replaced:

1. Headlight.
2. Headlight switch.
3. Cleaned the socket pins.

Next up is the ballast. If that doesn't work, I'm getting a new car.

talked to my mechanic about it, could be either a broken wire or bad connection at the other end of the wire, trace it back to see if the end is loose or bad wire??? with everything else you have changed it has to be something simple?? Good Luck!
