Would like to get the groups opinion. Would you prefer to have an 07 stock 997tt with the "sport" package. Or would you prefer an 02-05 996 with mods (bigger turbos, EVOMS stage II, suspension upgrads, etc.).
Drove the 997tt yesterday, felt very "solid" and was pretty darn quick.
So what do you think?
997 would have warranty remaining.

Newest, lowest mileage one you can get.
I LOVE them both. My son prefers the 996 front end/headlights and we both like the 996's non-split intercooler openings.
Then it comes down to interior. Most prefer the newer style. They both work well.
Either one, you can't go wrong. Buy the newest one in the best condition you can afford.
Enjoy.

Do they both use the same engine until this year or does the 07 have the 3.8 engine? Do you believe the 02 motors are more reliable than the new motors with VGT.
+1 on the lowest mileage, best shape one you can afford. Although subjective issues like design also factor into the decision. Personally the front and rear end of the 997 has never really grown on me. Is the modded 996 what you would want to do anyway? If yes, that probably deserves consideration...just get them PPI'd regardless of which one. A friend of mine found out that his GT3 had one over-rev to 9500+ !

Owned 3 996tt's and drove 2 997tt's. Love the 996 but thought the 997 was a great car that moved the 996 forward. Faster and better driving car, IMO, right from the factory. For now I will stay with my car but in 1 year or 2 I will definitely move to the 997.
Choose what is best for you now they are both great cars.

Buy the modded 996, save the money and enjoy the car, Once your tired of it it wont depreciate that much more and then decide if you want to keep it or go into a 997. But thats my opinion and i am sure there will be 300 different ones.
