about 45 minutes into the PBOC enduro race at Daytona with a new Hoosier race slick the right rear tire blew entering NASCAR turn 4 at about 170mph.
happens at the very end of the vid. actually seemed way more dramatic in the car! the amazing thing was I didnt hit any walls!!
if you watch the vid from the begining some good footage of the TT against some very serious Pro Viper team cars, also good sound of the TT with straight pipes WOT in 6th gear. Speeds approach 190mph at times.

pic "after", didnt hit anything but the tire at that speed beat the car to death, took out the intercooler, brackets, boosts hoses, bumper, etc..

Damn, you are really lucky to miss the walls. But then again you were due for some sort of good luck after the tranny troubles and F car troubles. Did you look at your rear tire for wear, I know Hoosier says to decrease the negative camber when running high speed Rovals like Daytona. I corded a set of 305/645 18 R100 compound on the rear inside edge during the UTCC @ VIR. A warmup and 3 timed sessions. This was with only -2.5 camber in the rear. The fronts were fine with - 3.2 camber and perfectly even wear. Talk to Jeff Spears @ Hoosier as he needs to know about this.

Just glad to hear you are ok. The rest really doesn't matter.

Tom, glad to see the car running so strong, very impressive driving, both before and after the tire, could have been a lot worse for sure...
Car sure did hang with the vipers well.

Too bad about the damage, but nice reaction on your part to keep it from being worse. Those high-banked turns really load the outside tires. I wonder if you were running enough pressure or too soft a compound in the rear?
tire was new and bought and mounted at the track with perfect tire temps during qualifying and practice, may have been bad. several other of the top fast cars had similar tire problems. Hoosier is "looking into it"
