621 over revs from PPI inspection?!?

just had a PPI done on the car I may be buying, it has 16653 redline shifts and 621 over revs. It has ecu flash and upgraded turbos, is this normal?

It has the Roock 600 HP kit.

The car pulls very hard and drives great.

I never heard of 'redline' shifts. Is this something the mechanic/inspector made up??? No such thing on a DME print out...

When was the LAST over-rev, specifically the last "Type 2" over rev? You should be able to figure this out based on the DME which lists last overrev and total operating hours. If it was some time ago it is prolly fine.

there has been talk that you can register type 2 over revs by just redlining the motor. or if it was flashed with a higher then stock redline it would do the same. some on here have thousands of type 2's its hard to judge how they get there sometimes. i wouldn't worry too much about it

Hard to get a type 2 overrev on a stock engine up****. Usually Type 2 over revs are from down shifts (aka a money shift). With a ECU flash that all goes out the window as most flashes raise the rev limiter into the type 2 range. 85 hours ago on the last type 2 rev doesn't seem like the car has been abused.

Funny thing is, you can get a type 2 WITHOUT logging a type one. I thought that was strange. On my car, just by breaking traction and hitting the rev limiter, I am able to get a Type 2. I pulled the info off the ECU and showed a Type 2 WITHOUT showing any new Type 1's

I just got a durametric and it shows same amount of Type 1s for Type 2's

Also it shows quite a bit of both don't know why MY car is running super healthy from what I can tell, i only lose by about 4 car lenghts to a 700bhp e55 (drag race from a roll) so i'm just taking these things as a grain of salt...

smj996c is on a distinguished road
looksfine to me,the type 1's means the rev limiter is doing its job,the 621 value in type 2 is prob just down to breaching the limiter the odd occasion either way I wouldnt worry with those values.

Once it hits 2 to the 16th power it stops counting... would "quite a bit" be 65536? (Just my recollection of the max)

Like I said, if those type 2s were very recent I would be more concerned...

nope..no where near that... why does it stop counting at 65536 ? ...65536 wow how long is that at at redline ?

Iv never done money shot shifts so, i don't see why i have type 2 revs, quite frankly im not concern since i plan to keep the car as long as i possible can.

I think type 2 revs counts something diff, i spoke to two lead techs before -- one at carlsen aka christian and at sonnen, they told me about rev 2, and they didnt seem concern, my warranty is sitll intact- just got a new transmission awhile back-- and they said my car is one hell of a car/fast. fwtw
