I think the way it breaks down in stiffness is this from what I learned when I was looking:

stock - softest
X73
RS
Wevo - black
Wevo - blue
solid

I got wevo black and I cannot feel any difference, but then again, I have a very loud exhaust and a lwfw.

The Wevo Black is slightly softer than the blue. From my understanding about 10% difference is all. The wevo also has incredible craftsmanship compared to the others. The amount of eurethane inside the wevo's is so minimal it is hard to believe that it does anything. it is nearly a solid.

Going back to JCB's original question... the new mounts are adaptive. Accelerometers in the vehicle sense the turn, and then stiffen the mounts by applying a field. The write-up I saw didn't say, but this is usually done using magnetic actuators. That makes the mounts stiff while cornering, and soft while driving. Sort of like sway bars for your engine.

Because they are actuated based on feedback from accelerometers in the vehicle, they aren't going to work in our cars.

Jon

I am not sure as to all the prices, but I think they are all in the 400 to 500 range. Cost is very close, so price is not part of the decision process.

First, Sorry but I've got sick relatives, my companies annual party tonight, and a trip next week... Been very busy...

Jeff, I would NEVER use metal mounts on a street car. You're going to transfer all the engine harmonics straight into the cabin.

Second, Jim, YES WEVO came out with a different mount for the 997TT, which works with the 996TT. I don't know why anyone would spend the extra money, though. Most of the 996 and early 997 GT3 guys use the WEVOs that I ordered and have used, and they're the ones who I got the tip from!

http://www.wevo.com/Products/Chassis...gineMounts.htm

You do need to order a longer bolt/nut setup from Mcmaster-Carr:

91280A745Metric 8.8 Zinc-Pltd Steel Hex Head Cap Screw M12 Size, 130mm Length, 1.75mm Pitch, Partial ThrdIn stock at $8.52 per Pack
91005A038Metric Black-Oxide Steel Flange Hex Nut M12 Screw Sz, 1.75mm Pitch, 19mm W, 17mm H O'allIn stock at $3.48 Each

They come in volumes of 5 each. So a couple of you guys could go in together if you are close to each other... before the propeler heads come out of the woodwork and ask about the bolt strength, 8.8 is what was stamped on what was shipped from WEVO.

PRICE as were quoted to me a while back:
X73 - $450
WEVO Black -$300 (Plus hardware replacement)
WEVO Blue - $300 (Plus hardware replacement)
WEVO 997TT - $400
MotorSport RS - $500

Took me less than an hour with the lift and a jack to support the motor. I did one side, then the other. You could do this with the car on the ground and the jack to support the motor (use a hockey puck or wood block between jack and motor).

Anyone in my area is more than welcome to my assistance (and my lift) in upgrading to these. Think I even have an additional nut/bolt setup, so that maves it even easier. Gunther, Landjet, BLKMGK, that means you...and others who may be lurking.

Mike

Are the blue WEVO ones that much of a noticable upgrade over stock?

ALL of the mounts listed are substantial over stock... The stock mounts on a modded car are JUNK!!! Those and the droplinks are two of the biggest weak links on this car!

my stockers, look brand new. The car was such a virgin. Anyway, I remember there being a discussion about converting the stock mounts into semi solids. That is definitely another option that would be considerably cheaper and get similar results.

My stock mounts also looked (and still do) brand new with only 24K miles on them. No evidence of tear or ripping. But Dennis, they have a lot of flex to them.

Mike, you are right, but there was a DIY on how to convert the factory mounts to semi solids by filling them with a resin. It was a detailed article and I just spend an hour of my life looking for it to no avail. oh well. I know I read it and I usually save links like that. But didn't this time I guess.

I just replaced my mounts w/ the brand new (and more expensive) Wevo 997 SS mounts. I haven't driven the car yet but will sometime this week and will then report back.
