.63 A/R the best for GT3071R?

My winter project is underway. Forged pistons, mild cams and all the standard bolt on goodies like EVO intercoolers, IPD plenum, yadda, yadda.

The car will be used as a street toy and track weapon. I like mid range torque and fast response. The goal is 600whp on pump gas. It would be nice to keep the boost at 1.3Bar or less.

The turbo of choice is the Garrett GT3071R with external wastegates unless a GT2871R will make the power I want?

I need to use a T3 flange so I can get the following A/R options .48 or .63 or .82.

The TIAL turbos are nice but I need a 4 Bolt exhaust flange not a V Band.

The .63 should be best for my needs I think Advice?

Or maybe the GT2871 trubo is big enough for my 600whp? Doesn't EVO use the 2871 for their GT700 kit? What A/R does EVO use on the GT700, GT750 and GT800?

A 3071 w/ a .63 a/r will make 600rwhp all day long without a problem. If you are only searching for that much why would you build the motor. Well unless you did plan on turning it up every so often. To each is his own though!

You should contact Boost Logic also, they are a sponsor here and have a pretty nice turbo kit that uses a Precision turbo that REALLY do make good power without all the lag!

24/18's will provide that kind of power all day long at less expense.

Good to know. The motor is tired = rebuild time.

Will a GT2871R .63 make the power I want? 600whp on pump is enough and from there I just need the turbo with the best response.

I am sure these and KKK Hybrids are good but I want to use Garretts.

My turbos have a Garret Housing, T3 Flange, etc... Only difference is the wheel inside of them.

The 2871R can make the power, but not sure of 600rwhp at 1.3bar, it may take a little more boost to do it. I could be wrong though.

600 wheel is achivable with 18g... but not very easily.

3071's will spool quicker, respool quicker and make more power (easily) if you so choose down the road.

Thanks Tony. I know you have some hands on experience with these combos.

Would you agree with the GT3071R .63 for 600whp on pump giving quick spool and response or do you think there is a better option?

Do you have an ECU tune + large injectors to run these GT turbos?

In addition to above, talk to Tial, EVOMS, Markski, Proto (K24/20G) all of them have very good solutions

Good luck !

turbos

I think Tony is talking about the bolt on stock replacement Alpha 30/71 turbos. With these turbos you don't need external wastgates.

I am a DIY person and I only want to buy the turbos. Most of these places only sell packages and they don't want to discuss turbo specs.

I came here to search for user feedback on various turbo combos

Is anyone running 3071 .63?
