997 Lip on 996?

Anyone tried to fit a 997 Turbo front lip on a 996 Turbo bumper? Just wondering how close a fit it would be.

ex. this lip would look cool (if it fit) on a 996 Turbo bumper...

Hey Rich, how are you? I'm pretty sure they are very similar but the main difference is the clip area that hold them in place. All the aftermarket lips are usually some kind of fiber so they will be too stiff. I'm pretty sure the contours are a touch different so you won't be able to just elbow-grease it in. A stock lip could probably be put on but then that would defeat the purpose. I will ask my shop, they should know for sure. Have a Happy New Year.

Hi Lee,

Thanks for your feedback and I see what you are saying. I happened to find a local 997 Turbo after market lip for sale...I'll do a test fit tomorrow....

Happy New Years!

O.K., so we did the test fit today...

the good news is the fit on the front is very good but too wide on the sides...I'll take it to the bodyshop to see if they can (cost effectively) modify each side to make it fit....

Looks like you need a few inches out of the middle?

That WOULD look pretty cool!

That's what I thought at first glance as it would seem to be easier to take from the middle...but then the problem would be the ducts on the lip would not line up with the bumper ducts. Right now they line up perfectly.
