looking for feedback on the silicone hose kit?

I have a stage 4 ECU with hybrid turbos( and rest of the usual goodies). my question is : how often do you guys blow hoses off- cause its happening to me about 3 times a year. now I got some mixed feedback- a mechanic told me at the dealership that its not the hoses, just the "O" rings taht need replacement. Then i asked one tuner and he said that they do not do anything. I know that at the Vegas shootout in August, some high powerd TTs were plagued by some of these issues- and they had the silicone hose kit. So, anyone...(Sharky) can maybe elaborate... b4 I purchase....
Also, since Im on the subject, how about the intake (blue) hose kit from FVD... general opinion seems to be that the stock plenium is the most restrictive peace(at the metal bend).
any feedback would be appreciated.

Hey Markski,
If you have hoses blowing off I would say go ahead and do it... We did not have this problem at the shootout, but it does happen...

As for the intake, here are a couple threads you can see Sharky's opinion when he installed it:
FVD intake really helps with big turbos;)

FVD Aluminum Intake Plenum

A couple others on here have um, but haven't seen posts...

Heya Marski,

Just to give you an idea at the December 03 European Car Shoot out there were 4 cars that blew hoses off at different points... In the Excellence shoot out all but one of the cars used them and to my knowledge I do not remember anyone blowing hoses off?

I used to blow mine off a lot as did Fred's car... So far a couple of 640GT cars have been _fine_ but they are 2003/4s which apparently had "improved" hoses, although I can't quite tell what has been improved. If you are blowing them off then I would get a set- if installed correctly they will never pop off. I was running 1.9bar with those big turbos one day and 1.6 bar ever since and never had one come off.

As fas as the FVD intake goes I've got nothing but good stuff to say about it. It's a VERY tight fit on the Tippy but then again it's the only one that works for us guys. I've seen RuF's one and it's actually the same thing (they're tubing isn't as pretty though). Only there's isn't quite as tight a fit because it looks as though they change the fuel filter over to a smaller one. I didn't do any Dynos before and after due to having changed so many other things but having seen what crap I took out it can only have helped. It's also a good bit cheaper then the other stuff from Gemballa (which I believe is just hoses?). Fred didn't have much luck with the carbon fiber one from Scargo (CF down there is a risk I guess) but Chad has done a lot of dynos on them and they do make power.

PS My diverter valve f hose tore twice as well.

I have the silicone boost hoses but only have 15 miles worth of use on them due to winter storage
I am running stage 4 GTR and felt the need to get rid of the stock flimsy hoses for piece of mind

When I get some miles under my belt I will share my experiences

Since the product was introduced I have run about 15K miles on the hose with stupid boost levels. Never an issue. We install them on about 90 % of the TTs we do.
