Bose Speaker Cover Removal

Looking for Help with Speaker and Subs
I just purchased a 2003 Turbo which has been fitted with aftermarket amps, speakers, and a headunit. Unfortunatly, the subs in the rear and the driver door speaker have no sound. Is it typical for aftermarket setups to delete the subs? Typical for one of the door speakers to come unplugged?
Any thoughts or do I need to take it to a Best Buy or other stereo specialist to investigate?

I'd take it to a specialist, not best buy.
Bose in 2003 uses a digital bus called MOST. Basically, only BOSE head unit and amp will run with the speaker and sub. Unless you replace all the speakers and sub, aftermarket head unit and amp won't work.
So you can either return it to stock BOSE or upgrade all the speakers and remove the sub. The stock setup isn't too bad. Sounds like the previous owner took it to best buy LOL...

You need to replace the entire box. I used a Memphis DVC 10" flat sub and ported it. The new enclosure was built from 1/2" MDF and I came out weighing only 8lbs more than the factory setup with bass that is totally worth it.

I would just check the wiring first... If someone went through the trouble to upgrade the radio, amp and speakers, they would have connected everything. Find out where the AMP is and check all the wires coming out of it - something is probably disconnected.
+1 on Best Buy probably doing the upgrade the first time!

Bose is absolute junk. Here is a KILLER deal on some CDT's: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=4630

And mods, the above link is to a specialty car audio place....it poses absolutely zero competition for any board sponsors and will help the OP immensely.
CDT's are absolute top quality speakers, $589 retail and black Friday saled at $149
You will find some really well priced subs there as well. Talk to them and they will help you get things sorted.

Thanks for all of the help guys. I took it up to Car Toys and they fixed it - just a bad terminal connection.
They did have to take the door panels off though - any worries that the side airbags have been compromised or would that throw an airbag warning light?

Nice to hear it was a quick fix. The air bag is mounted to the door and does not come off when you pull the door panel. You have nothing to worry about if the warning light isn't on.

Issue solved but then the battery died...which locked me out of my Eclipse head unit. I dont have the key to unlock from the previous owner.
Unfortunate but Car Toys cut me a deal on a new Kenwood unit with bluetooth and ipod connectivity. They then tuned the system and it sounds great.
All in all, I was very impressed with their customer service.

Yeah, car toys has fairly talented people....I put together my own systems because I get way better prices than even their discounted prices (and stuff that they don't carry...I spend more time on the car audio forums as I do 6speed nowadays) but I would definitely consider them for installation.

This is going into my M3 (if I keep her): Nakamichi CD 500 Sound Quality HU, Audio Control ESQ equalizer, CDT ES 643 3 way component front stage powered by a Cadence ZRS 2002 amp, Exodus Shiva-X 12 inch subwoofers (a small audio company) powered by a Cadence ZRS 7500 3600 watt amp.
