I searched and could not find any information to mount an european front license plate except on how not to have one or using tow hook to mount it. Everyone prefers the clean look of a front bumper without plate so please bear with me. I got two holes in the bumper and rather have an customized european licence plate. It came with frame and mounting screws but I don't think it's going to work. The bumper holes is bigger than the screws, the frame made out of plastic may break if I try to bend to the curve of the bumper. I went to the dealer and no one seems to run into this request before. A part manager printed out for me a diagram and it is a lot of parts to mount a license plate (#30 to #38). Please advise!

Get a small metal "bracket" that you would use as your backing for the Euro Plate. Make the holes in it to match the holes currently in your bumper. Put a felt strip the entire length of that backing plate, especially the corners so it doesn't scratch your paint. Once you fasten that backing plate to your bumper just use 3M Dual Loc Strips to fasten your Euro Plate onto it. I've done it on a few cars and its work perfect, never had a problem with it moving. Don't forget to put the felt strips on the back on the Euro Plate too just in case.

Yeah really easy. Home Depot has a small section with metal brackets in all kinds of shapes and sizes. You just need a simple flat metal rectangular piece (smaller that euro plate). Don't worry about the holes in it, you will need to make your own anyway to match whats on your bumper. There may be other rectangular pieces of metal you can use that aren't in the bracket section, check near the gutter stuff.

Check your bumper holes to see what type of screw/bolt will fit securely in the pre-existing holes. Get the right ones and a thick plastic or rubber washer that will sandwich between the bumper and metal backing but immobile through the screw. You should still put felt between the backing and the bumper, just in case.

You should be able to find everything you need right at Home Depot. If you can't, you didn't look hard enough.

I ordered a custom European (Germany) front license plate and need to know how to mount it. It came with a plastic frame but I don't think that I can mount the frame directly to the bumper. Advice from DYL911 in the States that we need an additional metal bracket. What would you do differently in UK?

Does anyone know what the white screws are, how they are held firmly in the bumper, and where you get them?

 

Threaded delrin or plastic screw inserts, McMaster Carr. Can't find the part #, but I'm guessing these are not so unique, ie HomeDepot, etc.
