Most insurance companies require the repair cost to be greater than 75-80% of the cars value before they will total it not 25% of its value as this person claims. He is lying about the extent of the damage/repairs. Why would an insurance company pay someone $80,000 to $100,000 to total a car when they could just pay $25,000 to fix it?

ebaker is on a distinguished road
The one I saw in March 2003 was a 2001 with 8000 mi. on Ebay with a buy it now of $79k. It was bid up to $70k which was below the reserve. I later saw it listed on another site with a $70k or $75k asking price. I will PM you his ebay ID if you want to ask what it sold for. In the post repair pictures it looked perfect. I think I could have bought it for $64 - $68k

These cars are hard to sell. Buyers who want a bargain usually need financing. Buyers who can afford to pay cash don't want a repaired wreck. If you plan to keep it more than 2 years it will probably depreciate less though.
