Question Radio not working after I replaced the battery.

Hey guys, just thought I would ask the board... see if anyone knows what im dealing with here. I replaced the battery on my car, figured that I would need a radio code to get the radio running after the battery is replaced. Except no display shows up at all... any thoughts? Im sure I did something stupid, just cant pinpoint where the stupidity came in Any help is greatly appreciated.

- thanks

Step 1: Remove radio with special grabber tools purchased from Porsche ($4.50)
Step 2: Flip radio around and look at rear fuse on the back. If fuse is blown (typically it is on a battery replacement), continue on to step 3.
Step 3: Replace fuse. ($1.00)
Step 4: Reinsert radio and put in code.
Step 5: Turn on car, turn on radio, and enjoy a nice drive with some great tunes.

Finished

ahhh, ok. Thanks. Can I do all of this just by going to my nearest porsche dealer... will they have the parts that I need?

You can, but it might cost you more than $5.50.

Did the dealer replace the battery or did you do it yourself?

I did it myself... And I never put the code in cause I dont get a display. Which made me think that I blew a fuse.

I'm not sure what else it would cost him. It's about a 90% chance that it is the fuse. If he pays much more than that for the tools/fuse from Porsche, he needs to find a new dealer.

Yes and yes. I did it in the parking lot of the Porsche dealer. Very quick and very simple. Just push the tools into the slots until you hear a "click" sound. That secures the tools to the radio. You will need a good bit of force to remove the radio. I would suggest putting something inside of the loop on the tools (they are thin tools and will almost cut your hands). I used two ink pens pushed through the hoops and used them to apply the pullling force needed.

These are the radio removal tools:

I just misunderstood the post. I thought he was asking how much it would be if he had the dealer perform the reset for him.
