For 1000 mile trip I would be more concerned over tire wear, make sure the alignment is proper, you'd be surprised how road trips eat tires on these types of cars, depending on ur tire you could be bald by the end of the trip.

Only for O2 sensors. If I had to complain I would say the car would hunt for idle once in a while on cold start, and my first time getting into second gear on a cold motor from a full stop it would bog/stumble really slightly.
I had planned to only swap coils if mine looked bad. Some had cracks and it was a mis-matched set of part numbers so I put in new ones.
Also fixed a small boost leak and now the motor holds revs better between gears.
These cars were built to be run 200,000+ miles in harsh german winters. I'm sure the OP will be fine

Great road trip car-just completed 6000 mile trip west tp east.
Check rear tires- inside ( I didn't check mine close enough-looked great from outside but after 1500 miles had cords showing on very inside-very lucky to have stopped for service and it was discovered.
Good advice on oil and other things -I keep coolant/acc.belt/oil/s.plugs/glass cleaner for w/shield/ but only used oil ( about 2 quarts on trip)
Recommend good visual check prior to trip.
Check tire inflator pump (mine was seized -probably never used)
have a great trip-enjoy the ride

On a recent PCA weekend road trip I hit a massive pothole and had a rear tire blow out at 90 mph. Probably my only road trip problem ever. In the event of something like this, a charged cell phone is a good thing. Familiarize yourself with the inflatable spare and tools.
Have a great trip!
