Help please , battery or generator ?
Hi all , need some experienced opinion , something weird going on in my 996 tt 03 , the car was in the garage on the lift I did some tranny work for month , negative was disconnected from the battery , I put the car together , it starts fine I drove the car week or so , today I looked at the dash , the pointer was on 12V while the car was running , I put meter on battery terminals , 11.4V I opened the trunk same reading on the terminal by the oil filter , does that mean generator not charging the battery ? I'm not getting any lights on the dash . now the battery 10.4 V , which is probably the end for it , another thing I don't understand is when I'm starting the car up I see around 13.5 V on the dash for minute or so and then it drops to 12 V (now lower) any advices ? Thanks
ps 6 month on 911tuning soft , happy ! car running like a champ , when it's charging the battery lol

I would guess alternator you could probably change regulator if your mechanically inclined. The best bet would be to have it load checked and battery tested at a good shop. Do you keep battery tender connected?

It's normal that I didn't get dash red battery warning light ? Not keeping the battery in charge but I'm driving the car all the time , if not I'm disconnecting the terminal .what regulator ? I looked at that , filter box out , Y pipe out , might filter housing , but I don't know what's this .

Your best bet is to have shop check system as I noted above. I have seen in another post about checking ground on engine, I believe its on left side. I'm sure you will get some other good advice.
