335/18's on track.........

Who here has run them successfully on track? Camber, ride height? Any issues, modifications (other than fender rolling)?

A little concerned about the tread width.

Been running 245/315 for years. But want to see of there is any more grip to be had with a 275/335 combo and if it's worth the trouble to make fit.


Right I'm running 9.5/12.5 CCW's.

Fwiw I ran 335/30/18 on 12 in wheel with 40mm offset. I'm on pss9 fvd specs. It seems a little lower than stock but not a ton. I heated my inner fender liners and rolled the fenders.

I still rubbed some holes in the inner liners and I could have rolled the fenders a bit more. Just street driving on some of those bumps that ale you say "wee!" I rubbed the outside of the tire ever do slightly. It was just enough to round the edges of the tire out.

^ that's my experience exactly same 40 offset on 12" 315/30 w fenders rolled. i can't see going any wider as i also momentarily bounce the inner liner under off camber full compression. but it's never impacted the tire wear. moreso inner liner wear i don't feel any great need to rub the liner any more or longer than i need to be airborne.

275(?) x 335? wow. maybe just go 10 in front. i can't see the 335 not rubbing but maybe tracks are mostly flatter with less torsional turning than canyons. knowing the clearance i have? it wouldn't work.

I've seen a track prepped GT2 run 335 R6s in the back but he said they still tore up inner fender linings. I think CCW 12s as well if I recall.

335's would require a low offset wheels, in the 20's, plus is it really worth it ? There is someone on the boards with CCW's and 335's but if i recall he was mostly all street.

My car is track only, hence I run primarily hoosiers. The 335 Hoosier is a 30 series and is not any taller than the 315. However it is a full inch wider in tread. The extra width should very well be worth it in terms of lateral grip. A quick inspection this morning showed me I have plenty of room up top. The only issue would be the lower inside near the boost hoses.

Will probably get a 40 offset and use spacers/negative camber to adjust from there.

why not go into a lower offset wheel and do it right minus spacers?
I'm sure you can move the plastics a bit and I believe there is a gt2 intercooler bracket that moves the plastics a bit back towards the car also. You still running JIC coilovers?

Because if I go too low, there is no going back. Spacers give me more flexibility/options. That and I already have 2 sets of wheels with similar offsets. I'm running very low negative camber at the moment, going to increase it using shims to give myself more room a the bottom.

Hey Heavy I'm have that combo on my car right now, I had just pulled out the front drive shaft and notice that my rears were gone. I had a set of RA1s stickers sitting in the garage left over from when the z06 was a street car so I tried them out. Did get a track day on them and it was the best the car has ever felt. I had them mounted on CCW C14s 9s and 12s a lot changes at once so I can't say for sure why the car felt so much better. New trans with cup LSD should be in by the end of the week and with the race car making low oil pressure, I'll run the turbo at next NASA event in TT and get a better idea how they work.

I would go to a taller rear 35 series tire Cup style. I found a taller 26.4" rear to have more grip than a short 25.5" tire due to the larger contact patch the larger diameter provides. Another positive byproduct is a higher load rating on the taller tires. Look at the tires run on Cups, they're not overly wide but they are tall. A super grippy set up on these cars is a 245/40/18 (25.6") and 315/35/18 (26.4") V710s. Another killer set up is 245/645/18 (25.55") and 325/660/18 (26.3") or 315/675/18 (26.7") Pzeros. All around best bang for the buck winner for a DE/ track day/street tire are 245/40/18 and 305/35/18 NT01s. They run wide. I run all these tires on 9/12" wheels and they mount perfectly square without stretching. Poster above mentioned the 335 RA1s. They are no longer produced and run narrow for a 335, pretty much comparable to a 305 or 315. If you are limited to running Hoosiers, I would run a 255/645/18 and a 305/680/18. Both run very wide and are recommended for 10/13" wheels.

Corvette's are a pain aren't they? Had my fill.

I think you'll like the TT in RWD form. Will be a lot less trouble with motor issues too.

I'm running the DOT A6 Hoosiers, which don't come that tall. The A6's also have a much softer sidewall so can't support that kind of height. Especially on the rear of a 911. I did run Pirelli's DH in those heights and really like them.

The slicks come with a penalty of about 70 hp. I can run them now, but they are too slow to come up to temp for time trials. I'm also about to take some weight out of the car so I won't be able to run the slicks anyways. I've heard some good things about the new S compound.

If you push out a 12.5 +40 wheel with too much of a spacer it'll end up sticking out past the body. How much camber do you run in the rear? Auto image guys ran 13" rear wheels with some crazy 3 degree camber.

I usually run about 2-2.5. I'm planning on a 15 mm spacer which would put me mid 20's as you stated.
