engine numbers
#2
got it
the MXX.XX number is the porsche engine code. it groups by basic design so all turbos and GT2 use the same basic engine, Mk1 Gt3 has a different basic engine from the Mk2 GT3 and RS etc.
as for the three digit code, its part of the engine number as is read as follows.......
first digit: engine type. 6 = 6 cyl engine
second digit: engine version
third digit: model year. Y=00, 1=01, 2=02 etc
this is followed by five digits which show the actual number of the engine. the range is covered in your table. ie 00501 >60000
as such there wasnt four different engines for the pre facelift (or whatever you call it) GT2.
