A colleague of mine picked up a 997.2 GT3 and called me out. He's 100% stock(435 hp /317 ft-lbs) They weight just over 3075lbs.

I'm all stock with exhaust and big heavy wheels.

We'll do 1st gear blasts. Nothing from a dead stop.

I think I'm in trouble! I need to order more parts.

Predictions?

If you're not going from a stop, then your AWD advantage becomes a disadvantage from a roll. Unless your car is an X50 car, I think he's going to walk you, your exhaust is giving you 20-25hp or so, but the extra 500 lbs of weight is going to hurt.

Run him, if you lose get a tune and race him a week or so later. Let him find out why forced induction is so nice

 

Just flash your ecu and watch your rear view mirror. He'll probably barely get you now, but with a flash you'll pull on him.

 

Get a flash but don't tell him you have a flash. "It's all stock, I swear!"

The result was a foregone conclusion.

I have to say I was a little surprised at just how fast that GT3 was!

The 996T looked like it was standing still compared to the GT3, there must be something seriously wrong with that 996T.

 

That GT3 sounds awesome! I can't believe how bad that was!

 

The 991 GT3 has more power, less weight, more gear, PDK and launch control. I'm not sure why anyone was surprised, if that is a stock 996 TT.

I'd like to give it a shot though.

Whoa. The 996 got creamed.

 

Yikes! 996 did pretty well for the first 20 feet.

 

My guess is the 996 did not have the better driver. Shouldn't have been that bad of a beat down.
