Wondering if anyone can help identify whether the turbos I purchased on eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-996-...vip=true&rt=nc) are really 16/24 hybrids. I examined the cold air compressor wheels and compared them to my K16s and they are the same diameter. Both have 12 vanes and otherwise look exactly the same. Does anyone know the dimensions for 16 and 24 wheels or any other ways to identify the difference.
This is really kind of a pain as I had to get original the turbos out of my car before I could compare.

Oh no, I bought those same turbos from that seller, disassembled, measured, found they were stockers and sent back. I figured he just removed them after I presented the evidence. I had even spoken with Sambott to confirm measurements. K24= 42.5mm inducer k16= 40.5mm inducer

I did not get all my $$ back though, $50+ return shipping and then 4 days later claimed they were damaged in shipping. I was sent a pic of a supposed bent compressor outlet pipe and told it could be fixed for $120. Knowing ups would never pay out after 4 days, I just offered him refund my $$ minus the 120 so I could move on. I was pretty close to posting about this, but in the end gave him the benefit of the doubt. Wish I had.

I think turbodanny has some explaining to do...

guy on here named turbodanny who has been? buying a bunch of parts from sambo sells you both?! some turbos, claims they are hybrids and they are in fact NOT 16/24's!?

what am i missing here?

 

Guess the seller sold them to turbogarrett originally. He returned them and I ended up buying them on eBay thinking they were 16/24 as well. eBay seller has agreed to take them back but I will still likely be out return shipping and for my time.

 

I found them listed on ebay, bought those turbos outside of ebay in january for $800.

Disassembled, measured compressor wheels compared to my k16's, found they were identical. Spoke to Sam about the wheel sizes to confirm.

Sent turbos back to seller- shipping damage issue-finally got most of my money back.

Noticed maybe a month ago they popped back up on ebay again listed as hybrids and next time I checked they were gone.

Wish I had done something to prevent my ordeal happening to someone else..

 

Seller has 100% positive feedback too. That's what I like about Ebay!

 

use paypal and file a dispute for any fees and shipping costs. i have had 4 cases in the 10 yrs won every case even a case were they initially decided in favor of the seller. when i asked whybthey said his feedback. wg=hen i brought it to their attention i had more positive feedback than him they decided in my favor

 

i must've misread it, as i gleaned it was a set of non hybrid 16/24's being sold by "turbodanny" who is or i thought had been buying parts from *our* sambo. though he was iirc getting billets and it read as if HE was selling his stockers as hybrids! this turbodanny.. NOT sambo. sambo's rep here real world and ebay is 100%, sacrosanct + golden lol

so.. how did this guy dannys name get bandied about in this!?

 

the eBay add has his car in the pics and the ad says they are billets but aparently they are just stock k16 turbos which have been sold twice on eBay to 2 different people.

 

Hey guys, just saw this. I remember talking to Garrett when he had inquired with me. Then also to Danny. His car made so much power because he was using E85. The way he understood it the shop had upgraded his turbos. Someone must have ripped him off at some point. So he understood it and took them back I had thought. But how they got sold again I don't know. Must've been a confusion I hope.

Those are definitely bone stock.
