CDC-4 Cd Changer Question

Can anyone confirm for me whether the CDC-4 cd changer for the 996 can work with and without navigation equipped cars? This would be a cd changer for 2003 and newer car. I have a CDR23 head unit without nav. thanks for any/all information!

Yes, the changer will work with a stock headunit as well as PCMII. If you like a multi changer, cdc4 won't disappoint. It has a skip resistent memory.

thanks djantlive! Now that I have comfort in that answer, I was wondering if someone in the SF Bay Area can recommend a place to have a CDC-4 installed? (Besides the Porsche dealer of course) If anyone has had experience with installing these and would be willing to help a fellow P-nut out, we can work something out too!! Just putting it out there. Thanks!

on a 03+ w MOST, you need to have dealer activate the cdc. I don't think activation can be done yourself. i recommend getting quotes from Carlsen and compare with other dealers on the install charges. It should be 1-2 hr of labor. Get Brian at Carlsen to help you. He's on this board.

Had it Done on '03 last year

You will get a kit when you purchase the unit which will contain about 3 mounting brackets, one of which is correct for the TT. You will also get some different connecting cables. The reason is the kit is also sold for the Cayenne, etc. A 4 wheel drive also uses a different length cable from a 2 wheel drive. Anyway, I bought my kit from Carnewal [Board Sponsor] and had the dealer instal because as was mentioned you need to activate by using the Porsche computer program. By the way, it works well, and sounds good, no problems so far. Take Care. Good Luck

Bashy,

I am in Central Florida also. Assuming you had Porsche of Orlando install do you mind telling me how much?

I have an 03 and want to do the same thing.

Attn: Concrete Ron

I did not have Porsche of Orlando do the work. I have had a relationship with Champion so I drove down they did the work and I came back home same day. I seem to remember about $300. The work was well done. Looked totally factory, no wires showing and done just as if it came with the car. Call Danny in service at Champion and he will give you a price beforehand. Good Luck.

Now here's yet another question: apparently there are at least two different part numbers associated with the CDC-4 cd changer: 996.645.140.00 and 996.645.140.02 Can anyone advise which one will be compatible for a 2003 996 TT with a CDR23 head unit (w/o navi)? Thanks!!
