blaupunkt toronto install in 2001 996 turbo (help needed please)

Hi everybody,

i just bought a Blaupunkt Toronto 420 bt radio to replace the porsche becker cdr 220 that i have in my 2001 911 turbo coupe

my car have the digital sound processing option

i bought this radio because becker told me that this radio is plug and play and easy to install

the radio work but i have no sound and need you help to find what i'm doing wrong.

the plug behind the cdr 220 and the blaupunk are the same except the 4 rca plug.

those are the plug of my oem radio, the black one goes in the bottom slot (in the cdr 220 and it's plug and play in the bottom slot in the blaupunkt too)

the antenna..... i bought an adapter, no problem here

the yellow plug goes in the top left slot of oem radio and it also plug in the top left of the blaupunkt

this is the back of the blaupunkt, i tried to plug the blaupunkt the same way the becker was plugged but i have no sound, the digital sound processor works this way (button are lighted) the wires behind the blaupunkt are 4 rca wires( 2 front speaker, 2 rear speaker, one blak wre for rear usd and other for external mic)

i also bought this adapter thinking it was necessary, it plug in the yellow plug and split into 4 rca cables and one wire, i tried to plug the rca cable of the blaupunkt to the adapter harness and plug it to the yellow pluf of the car.....no sound and digital sound processing is not working (no light on the button (no sound this way) i dont know if i have to plug the wire that conme with the rca and absolutely dont know where to plug it if i have to

this is the adaptor i bought. bought it as an adaptor to retain oem amp for an aftermarker radio install that replace the porsche becker cdr 220

please help me, it's suppose to be plug and play, i guess it can't be a big problem for somebody that know what he's doing

in my car i have the digital sound processor. this was a porsche option.

with my oem becker cdr 220, if i unplug the digital sound processor unit, i have no sound........

when i plug the yellow plug behind the blaupunkt, the digital sound processing is working ( buttont was lighted so it's on)

and the blaupunkt have the audio out with rca cable..... maybe i did not order the good harness, maybe i need this one to plug the male yellow plug in the blaupunkt, the female yellow in the car harness and the rca to plug on the audio out of the blaupunkt radio

this one ? http://www.discountcarstereo.com/AiH-BKR2.html

the digital sound processor have to work so maybe it's the solution

Thanks you so much

everything works.......

i had to power the amp with the 12 v blue/white wire in the conversion harness.

there is 12 v out of the blaupunkt pin 6 of the c1 connector, i went in a audi scrap yard, cut a yellow plug of a a salvage car, skin the pin 6 wire and plug it with the blue/white wire of my harness

everything works as oem

Thanks

Good work! Any pics of the finished product? How do you like the radio and where did you get it from? The blaupunt radios are pretty inconspicuous compared to most other aftermarket radios. Will probably be my next radio if I don't to double din.

You running an amp too?

i just install it, 3 hours ago. and set it up while reading the manual, very easy to use, it sound great to me, the Bluetooth phone work very well without an external mic.

i bought it locally new from somebody that wanted to install it in his future porsche but finally did not buy the Porsche.

Blaupunkt 420 bt was my choice because it works with all the oem connector and is very plug and play. If you want one, the best option is to order it on eBay.com

all these radio are for sale by german seller on eBay.com. around 180-200 usd shipped to the usa, can be find on amazon.com too but it also come from germany, becker auto sound have this radio in stock but they sell it for 350$ usd http://beckerautosound.com/

i only replace the cdr 220 oem headunit and wanted to retain the factory amp so i bought this kit http://www.discountcarstereo.com/HRC-BKR.html

in fact you only need the antenna adapter and the female yellow plug to rca audio harness. you dont need the harness with the wire...... like i explained, i took a harness like this one that i plug in the c1 slot behind the blaupunkt to get my 12v to turn on the amp on the other harness, if you want to do the same you only need the 12v wire on this plug and you can cut the rca exit of this harness (this will be as oem, no fuse box 12v wire or test light needed) http://www.discountcarstereo.com/AiH-BRK.html

my first fear was that the blaupunkt does not match the oem amber light of the porsche......but in person, it's nice and beautiful, it doesn't look out of place, it look very oem and i love it....very happy with my choie and how this radio add modern options to this car.....burning cd is not very up to date these days
