Question Help. PSS10 feel unstable 996TT

Im running 15mm spacers all round along with GT2 ride height and cambers on standard hollow spoke wheels.

Damper settings are both 5 front and rear.

I feel the steering to be almost too direct. I feel every bump in the road (UK roads) however at higher speeds I really have to hold tightly onto the wheel as there is almost too much feedback through the steering wheel.

Can anyone advise?

Perhaps the camber setting is too harsh? However I love the stance and "poke" of the cambers.

Front and rear control arms have been replaced in the past too....

Thanks

Si

I had the same issue with my FVD PSS9s. I fear that you might be beyond the functionality of the coilovers at GT2 ride heights. I raised mine up a bit and the car felt much better on the highway. I would also advise to running the settings staggered with a stiffer setting in the rear due to all of the weight. This is what I have seen others recommend and how I have it on my car.

What damper do you have on your rear, 6?

I have 9s so its reversed (lower equals more dampening). I have mine set to 6 in the front and 4 in the rear.

I wonder if this is still relevant on the pss10's?

I had the same issue when my ps10's were installed. They had to be raised up a bit.
My alignment is close to stock 996T but a bit more aggressive angle.
Also my settings are 2 front and 4 rear.
This works well for me on the street and the track (3 or 4 track days per year).

Oh wow, this post needs more attention. I'd not read this about the PSS9's (or maybe even 10's) before. I've been reading the forum for over a year too. This COMPLETELY changes my desire to get PSS10's eventually.

I think most reviews state that they arent that good outside of their recommended height adjustments. I just had to raise mine a little bit and it feels so much better. But, yes, if you want GT2 height, dont go for these.

+1 on the ride height. Go up 10mm, align and try setting 4-6 to see what feels right.

See below on my post #11

It's still a decent drop in height from stock if you stick within Bilstein specified heights which is critical for optimal shocker performance.

I would definitely check the alignment. If the rear toe is out a little, then the front end wanders a lot.

Later, Steve

I suggest setting the ride height to within the bilstein recommended range, see page 7 of this document: PSS10 Installation

The front's only have a 10mm recommended adjustment range and the rears only have a 5mm recommended adjustment range.

I too have PSS10 installed on my 996 Turbo, with front & rear H&R sway bars set at the middle holes. Currently on F5 R4 setting, ride height within Bilsten recommend range (on the high side = maximum ride height). What I experienced is very bumpy ride on uneven roads during turns (mainly in rear), making the car jumpy & very unstable. The ride on non-perfert roads feels stiff too. I will check the alignment later, but was thinking about raising the height by 10mm to try (however it might be out of Bilsten recommend range), is that ok?
