help me 2002 (45000miles) vs 2004 x50 (92000miles)

I'd do it. That's a freaking steal for an X50 even with that mileage. New lip spoiler is maybe $90-100 for the ebay one (usually I dont advocate ebay parts, but the lip spoiler gets beat up so much why pay more and it fits well).
Remove badges.. Needs to be cleaned up, headlights look foggy. Just needs some TLC I think so if it is mechanically sound, go for it. Then you have a car you don't have to worry about racking up mileage on or modifying, and can enjoy the crap out of it as it is meant to be.

If a decent no stories 6 speed X50 is going for $32k, can you get $40k for your tippy? I think that will be the sticking point - yeah, the mileage is less, but I think it's harder to sell a tip than an X50 for sure.
I'd be real wary of a car that is being sold for way less than what the owner paid not that long ago. Usually means he got a big repair estimate and would rather dump it than deal with it. It's way below market but maybe you found a great deal.

honestly, i don't think $32k is greatly undervalued for a 100k miles car. if anything it's reasonably priced. do agree though, that getting 40k for a tip w 45k miles is gonna take the "perfect" buyer. though i could well be wrong, dont know the values of tips. 100k mile MT cars can be mostly be had for low 30's and even less, depending upon condition etc.

as for the tip. once again not everyone is looking for a six speed. I really like the tip but not as much as a six speed and if I had to do it all over I would have never bought it. If i was 20 years older I'd probably opt for an automatic type. The guy I bought it from was 80 years old and it was in phenomenal condition. If I cant sell it for 40 maybe I get 35000 for it. but it pays for the x50 and a few repairs and I chalk it up to life lessons. Or maybe the wife says you can keep both and she drives the tippy most of the time. That's ultimately what I'd like to have happen)) thanks all for the input!!!

i hear ya but it's still under a comprehensive national warranty. he's had a few claims. right now they are replacing the alternator and all the lifters. so whe shall see. the warranty expires like march 13th. I could transfer it for 75 bucks but by the time it transferred it will have expired. my feeling is that its a good deal. there was another 996 turbo not long ago with 30000 or so miles north of seattle and the guy was asking in the mid 30's for it. it was a tip (i believe) and cabrio but it sold in a second. the guy used nada and kelly blue book for value cause not everyone roams these forms on a daily basis)) this guy also was going to trade it in. they offered him 29000 he looked at kelly blue book with said 31000 and listed it for 32000.
