What is the oem coolant?

I would just use regular stuff, but I just need to add a little. Level is down. Or....what can be mixed with the oem? Mine is a yellowish color.

Distilled water and you are good to go. Unless you are some where it is commonly below zero F.

theoretically, any "OAT" stuff will work as long as its silicate free, but it's a good idea to keep a good 50/50 balance of g13 in the system and not mix "types". i get g13 at the vw dealer and its the same as porsche branded which is actually pentosin g12. so 50/50 mix of g13 w distilled. but pink goes well with pink. so only add water as needed lol

If there is no sign of a coolant leak: water pump, radiators, block/hose fittings, coolant tank; probably the cap is losing vapor and in this just distilled water can be used. The system has not lost any anti-freeze just water (in the form of vapor).

My Boxster's coolant system was down nearly a gallon from a leaking cap. I just ran out - in my other car -- and bought a gallon of distilled water and used this to top the level up. After I confirmed the cap was leaking I again added some distilled water and then replaced the cap.

(When I suspected my Turbo's coolant cap leaking I just replaced it. The early caps leak after a while.)

You can always use a test strip to check the coolant freezing protection. If the freezing protection level not sufficient for your area then you can decide if you want to try to "fix" this by adding just anti-freeze or my preference would be -- unless the coolant was rather fresh to begin with -- having the cooling system drained and refilled with fresh mix of anti-freeze and water. I like to have this done every 4 to 5 years as it helps prolong the life of the water pump, radiators, oil/water heat exchanger, heater core, and even the hoses.

I think you can run any compatible coolant you want, but not ANY coolant you want.

VW/Audi g13 is under $25 for a gallon on Amazon, with Prime shipping. I don't think you can theoretically save much going with cheaper no name stuff anyways. Porsche coolant is more like $50 a gallon, and allegedly the exact same stuff... so it's kind of silly to pay for the fancier black jug that you are just going to chuck in recycling anyways.

as c32 says, its mixing "types" that is ill advised as the PH #'s and ingredients of one coolant over another might be different. but any of these WILL work. as long as it's an "OAT Type" then theoretically, it's all going to be usable.

but most stay with the AUDI/VW g13 ( cheaper ) rather than the PORSCHE brand even though it's the same pink stuff all of which is purported to be made by Pentosin.

the rule to follow is keeping a good ph balance of 50/50 mix of distilled and silicate free OAT type "lifetime" coolant.
