I have searched the archives, but wanted some more suggestions on a complete setup in terms of amps, speakers, and sub. I listen mostly to techno, some occasional rap, and classic rock. I am planning on having a lightweight ported box with 1 ten inch sub put in the back. I am also going to keep the stock nav headunit for now, so what combos have worked best for components and amps in the 996tt??
I used to use the old rockford amps and kicker subs, but am not up to date on the new stuff. Again, just want some crisp quality sound, I am not trying to make a show car quality system. Please be specific with model numbers etc so I order the right equipment!

www.onlinecarstereo.com has good deals on good equipment, including Focal, Kenwood, and JL Audio. Personally, I'd go with JL all around and an Alpine head unit.

Funny you should mention the stereo! It's amazing how many people thing the Bose crap Porsche (among other car makers) uses is good and will actually pay money for it. Ask any audiophile about Bose-they will laugh at you. Check at any audiophile site, they will tell you that Bose is the most overpriced mid-fi (not hi-fi) brand with gaps in their frequency coverage and cheap paper cone drivers.
Anyway, the Bose system in my 03 TT is terrible. I changed the dashboard speakers and rear speakers to some 3 1/2" Pioneer and there was immediate improvement on the highs. However the whole system is eq'ed like a ^ (meaning midrange way up) and it sounds terrible, esepcially the rear speakers are unbearable to the point I have to fader them out. The biggest problem seems to be the Bose digital amp (which I doubt it can be upgraded without changing the CD/radio) so you'd probably have to replace the entire system. The only thing you can reuse from factory is the wires!
