I live in Laguna Beach and I have the Kreiss-Sieg exhaust with the bypass button on the dash. With bypass 'off', it is mildly raspier than stock and probably comparable to most aftermarket exhausts. With bypass 'on' it is a wild roar and MUCH faster (those straight pipes make a huge difference to the breathing of the engine).

Reading is fundamental... Just read the whole thread... There've been some interesting developments it seems, especially in the X design arena... Nice systems out there to choose from now... Depends on what you want...

I cannot comment on the other exhausts but I just got my speedtech excellerator exhaust on 3" and it sounds pretty good, definetly better then stock IMO. Good fit and finish and not to difficult to install.

We developed a quiet exhaust for those that desire the ability to carry on a conversation with a passenger, make a cell phone call or enjoy their favorite music. Our SpeedTech X-cellerator 2.5 quiet cross-flow design emits an exotic GT3ish sound and at WOT has a fantastic note, yet remains very unintrusive in the cabin. Video below.
For those that want an aggressive GT3ish sound, we also offer a full 3" X-celleratoir crossflow, as well. It's sounds very race-car like - like the car really means business!
I personally prefer the 2.5 quiet for my daily driver, it's a perfect blend of exotic sport sound and cabin comfort. With 100 cell cats and a straight thru cross-flow design, the 2.5 flows very well. I have driven both versions back to back with a typical 700 package - K24/18G's, fuel system, intake, TB, plenum, Y-Pipe, IC's, etc. and could not detect any difference in seat of the pants feel - I think it really boils down to how much sound do you want yourself and others to hear...
