Well, AMS has claimed it themselves so I'm not sure the grapevine is needed this time around.

I believe they mentioned we'd see some of their K24 results in just a couple weeks too.

Amazing results and price point!! So far this is the most impressive k16 based turbo we've tested!

I agree, even on a full race gas tune, we haven't seen traps approaching mid 130s with 16gs.

The 16g compressor works very well right up the 1.3 level. This is why we generally don't push that turbo any harder then that pressure.

The billet wheel that AMS has selected for this upgrade is extremely efficient both above and below 1.3.

I'd be interested to see what these can do on pump + meth, would you need upgraded injectors in that case?

depends on how much Meth you are tossing at the car but I would rather see the addition of the injectors. Honestly if you are running pure methanol I would imagine the numbers would be right inline with our race gas numbers.

I know some of you were asking about the spool characteristics of these turbos vs. stock K16s. We were able to get a stock K16 car on our dyno for comparison. The results were awesome. It turns out that the AMS Billet K16s spool THE SAME as stock K16s!!! Here is a dyno sheet for your viewing pleasure.

Here is a graph comparing the spool up characteristics of the AMS Billet K16s to the stock K16 units utilizing the stock exhaust. As you can see, they spool exactly the same.

How do we think this compares with Kevin's K16/24s ?

We have not had a K16/24 car on our dyno, so I can't give a direct comparison. I can however give you an educated opinion. Much like the 16G compressor wheel, the K24 wheel is old technology. The most common complaint about the K16/24 upgrade is how hard power falls off in the higher RPMs. With the new billet wheel technology matched properly to the K16 turbine wheel, this is no longer a concern. Without having hard data for the K16/24s I can't give you a definite answer, however my personal opinion is that our billet units will spool quicker and make more power.
