Goodridge lines are the best and I run Pagid pads for the street. Many of the sponsors to the right can hook you up.

i bought agency power coated SS lines from dan @ vivid racing. the marketing spin on coated lines is that they prevent small particles of road debris from working their way through the exposed SS braid where they can wear against the teflon inner core and cause leaks. i don't know if it's true, but dan's a good guy so i bought them from vivid.

I currently have mintex pads, and I'm not a huge fan. The stopping power's there, but they DUST LIKE CRAZY! More than my stock ones did!(and they claimed they wouldn't... tisk tisk)

As far as the SS lines are concerned, I went with the goodridge. My brother uses them on his supra, and if he's comfortable with those stopping his 800rwhp monster, then I'm just fine with them as well.

Best bang for the buck in my opinion and the lowest amount of wheel dust are the Akebono Euro Ceramics.

They are quiet cold and bite well from the first application of the brake pedal. I run these in all of my cars and couldn't be happier. I have even run a set the entire weekend at Road America.....once.

I'm not sure but my brakes were definitely better with new pad, rotors, rebuilt calipers, steel lines and new fluids... A night and day difference.

In all honesty, I didn't notice any real difference in firmness. I track the car often and when I did pads and rotors I figured I would do the SS lines to help offset any track debris damage that may happen.

Cons as I see it are the inability to see if the rubber inside the stainless is cracked or weeping from somewhere. However, I don't think that even a 996 that still has (most probably do) the original rubber lines are going to see any cracking anytime soon.

Heck one of my other two 911s still has the original rubber lines on it from 1983!! Those will be getting changed out this year.

i put SS lines on all my cars. the pedal feel is definitely firmer. not a track guy, so i can't speak to performance there.

i don't see a downside to SS lines. reading rentech forum, folks say change them every year if you track your car a lot. not applicable to my situation. i had them on my volvo S60R for 5 years. never had a problem. stopped on a dime.
