TPC or EVOMS supercharger??

Hi All,

Ok, I know this has been debated before but still there is very little information out there about the final results i.e., reliablility etc about these superchargers. I have finally decided to take the plunge and supercharge my 996 (3.4) but cannot decide which kit to go for. I don't do track days. Can anyone with a fitted kit offer some help on which way to go please????

Hi.. TPC kit uses a screw type S/C and the VF kit uses a centrifugal type S/C. We have installed a few dozen of the VF kits with no problems. It is a very well thought out kit. I feel that most people will not want there car cut and beat on to fit the TPC kit.. I think you would need to look into witch S/C kit fits your needs. Tim

i would get the VF kit hands down, seems that they have sold many more kits than the TPC kit

but i do recall the TPC kit being much less expensive

let me know what you come up with since i'm on the line on getting my 996 4S done

sadly my factory supercharged S55 on this saturdays run must have blew a head gasket since it was blowing out white smoke everywhere. makes me worry more about problems on my P-car getting supercharged

Pricing is similar between the two kits. At least when I was shopping them and after you figured in the 3rd radiator for the TPC kit. Not sure if it's included now.

The engineering behind the TPC kit is a little sketchy. Instead of bigger injectors, they add an additional (7th) injector to supplement the fuel. Instead of re programming the ECU, they add a piggy back. Not to mention the TPC kit is very noisy. It does pack some power though. I know of at least one person that has had their TPC kit uninstalled and gone back to stock due to problems with the kit that TPC themselves couldn't resolve. They are very nice at TPC though. I've spent some time with them on the phone when I was doing my research.

Just curious, where does the 7th injector go?

I'm no mechanic, but the way it was explained to me was that it goes somewhere in the middle of the fuel lines between the 6 cylinders. I had a couple different tuners tell me that what inevitably happens is that the closest cylinders get over-fueled and the outer cylinders (furthest away from the injector) run leaner. I have nothing to back that up with. Just what I heard from tuners, not what I know from experience.

The VF kit is very nice; had one on my BMW.

I have the TPC kit on my 996 and am very happy with it. I have had no problems whatsoever and the power feels to come in quicker. My actually get better gas mileage with my foot "out" of the pedal than a friend gets with his stock setup. There is a bit of variance on the opinion of the injector setup with the TPC but I have monitored the readings and have no issues in the 15k that I have had the car. I dyno'd 398hp on an 80 degree day which is higher than stated on their website. TPC is a bit more powerful anf I have heard issues form both sides. Either way, you are sure to have fun.

Good luck.....

I don't understand why the guys at TPC don't chime in. Don't they watch this site?
