Need Help!!! tires rubbing!

Hi, I have a 03 996 C4S, and I bought a set of HRE 841r from a 996 turbo, which i was told to have the same off set and no problem.

I put the wheels on and the rear tires stick out so much that it rub and the fender cut into the side wall of the tires. What went wrong?

I read in the general manual for 996 that there are spacers, does this apply to the C4S as well? if so how do I remove it?

I have attached some pics, not sure if the grey part is the spacer, I tried taking it off, but is seems to be connected to the brake disk.

Thank you in advance.

hey there.....

technical, yea wheels from a turbo 996 SHOULD fit a C4S since its the same type wide body. as for why they stick out a little more than it should confuses me. the wheels on your car do sit a little more flush than it should. whats the tire sizes on the wheels now? also, there is no washer on the hubs so that isnt a concern at all. do the fronts rub also? give us some more info to help ya out.

Don't take this the wrong way, but are you positive you were sold a widebody?

thanks.

1.) i am sure mine is a c4s wide body

2.) no, the front doesn't rub

3.) my tires are pilot sport II, and sizes are:

235-35-19 front
315-25-19 rear.

It is the rear that rub, but in comparison, they are the same width as the original c4s tires.

what about the grey part on the hub?
it is only held on by 2 screws? just that it seems to be connected to the brake disk in the back. do you think that is the spacer?

I certainly don't have an intelligent answer beyond the offset's being off. On pic 3 - measure the distance from the center to the floor - make sure they are the same. My dad ran 315s on his 997 C4S on 19s so width is not the issue... [noted below: oops ]

On the plus side - the wheels will look sick.

Did you ever see pics of them on the Turbo? Some people buy their wheels that way. They may have had a very aggressive offset. You dont have spacers..thats you hub...dont remove that. Whats the width of the rim and offset? That will tell you if there is a problem. Also is your car lowered? Have you had the camber adjusted on the rear of your car? It could be that IF the Turbo was lowered and had an aggressive camber that the tires would not have rubbed on that car, while your car ha a more conservative suspension setup and thus it rubs.....

Oh Malaksa...a 997 C4S is wider than a 996 C4S so you cannot compare the 2.

Here's a pic of them on a Turbo and they are more recessed

Call these guys since they sell them and ask for assistance

The offsets are obviously dramatically different than the original turbo twist rims based on your pictures. Here is an offset calculator for you as well. The offsets should be listed on the back of the rims.

first thing you must do is find out the offset/backspacing of those wheels then we can determine if it should or should not work on your c4s. it's clearly an offset/backspacing issue here. the screws that you circled is what holds the hub/rotor. DO NOT take that off unless you're swapping rotors.

some scenarios:

- the previous owner lied about the wheels being on a turbo 966

- his rear suspension had some serious negative camber

- his car wasn't as low as yours therefore he probably never ran into this problem(still an offset issue)

- if the tires you have on now aren't the ones that came with the wheels, he probably used narrower tires giving it that stretch euro style look.

- he had his rear fenders rolled

- something is wrong with your rear suspension, any previously known accidents??? does the other side rub too???

i could be completely way off with everything i just said.

get your fenders rolled. costs like 300-500 depending on where you get it done

the same wheels will rub on a turbo and not a 4S because of the suspension settings, depending on how your suspension is setup and how it's dialed in, the wheel will be angled/positione differently

just get your fenders rolled
