Could you post pictures of how you mounted the Alpine?

Did you use speaker level input or RCA? I tried using an Alpine with RCA inputs and had terrible alternater interference. Even with filters installed i could not deal with it.

Someone said that my RCA wires ran too close to the battery. But I don't how the battery could have anything to do with it. The alternator noise is on the power line anywhere in the car.

How did you route your wirering?

btw, the connection between the head unit & amp is fiberoptic. The connection between the amp & speakers is traditional copper.

Rewiring the speakers may make someone feel better, but is unlikely to produce any change--other than increase the change that goes into the installer's pocket.

After installing a JVC headunit with bluetooth & ipod capability that can be programmed to match the Porsche's orange illumination, everything worked really well and the matching illumination looked pretty OEM at night. However, the display is just too small and close to unreadable during daytime, specially with the top down. Therefore, a bit disappointed, I went back to this thread and got myself the double DIN kit from ebay. This includes the frame to transfer the A/C control unit to the bottom. This would give me the opportunity to install a double-DIN with a large touch screen. Thanks, e.coli, for this thread.

If you're talking about that seller out of FL, I would say I totally agree with you. So far from what I've seen, their communication and quickness of shipping are outstanding. My double-DIN kit had been shipped out in less than a day after placing my order.
