Yeah. the same thinng just happened to me (2002 C4S)
seems to be a common problem. Both seatbelt buckles and updated wiring harness (the gold thingee) plus 5 hrs labor.
seems to be NO work around other than DIY

so is there any danger of the airbag not firing or firing at the wrong time ?
it sounds like the easiest and cheapest fix is just to buy/borrow a durametric and have the light re-set rather than having the dealer replace modules etc
I had the Air Bag light about a year ago....I got the Durametric scanner and cleared code/light. It has happened about three times after this; just used the Durametric tool and all is well. At this point it isn't worth replacing the buckles.
FYI: I was told the even with the Air Bag Light on your bags will still do what they are designed to do in case of inpact. Lucky I've never had to find out if that is true or not.
if you were closer to DC, my buddy's got the SW and we could have turned it off for a 6-pack of Heineken. G/L bud......but get the software if you can.
