The hex plugs were made of brass. The shop that threaded the cams provided them. As for the tool, mine was pretty crude as I made it on a vice with a drill. A drill press would have been much better. Also, setting the depth of the bolts that fit into the head of the cams would have saved a lot of trouble. I would have to look up the proper depths, they are in the manual.

Here is the cam holder that I made. I used allen head bolts that fit perfectly inside the cams.

Dharn was a great resource!

Just be careful with the allen head bolts. That is what I used and they went into the expansion plugs and deformed them. You want to keep them in the head of the cam and not press on the expansion plugs.

Based on your experience, I screwed them figer tight into the cams. I got a couple different sizes, and this one held the cam nicely, without a chance of deforming the plugs. After seeing you experience, I treaded lightly.
