I have had a k & n induction kit put on my 996 facelift c2, i also had the cats removed while haveing a new exhaust, i have read about spacing the 02 sensors further out of the pipe so they dont read to high in which they wont put the engine check light on,
i have had this done, the engine check light has come on and i want to no if this is my induction kit i have been told it can set off maf sensor, or if its the 02 sensors, what will the code or reading be for each of these for me to know what they are?
i dont mind having a engine check light on but have heard it over fuels the car, and i have noticed at low revs it is a little jerky,
any help would be great, i would just put the cats back in but the center exhasut i now have will not allow me to do this as there is no room

I would bet the oil from the K&N has gotten on to the MAF. Most people say you really need to wipe down any oiled filter or wrap in newspaper for a day or two before you install it.
Simply get your codes read - it will tell you exactly whats going on. If I had to bet (even though ROW cars seem to have slightly higher tolerances) I'd guess it's a combination of both. The K&N complete cold air intake system is notorious for causing dirty/blown MAF's. Evolution's V-Flow seems to be a much more reliable unit, however if you use a K&N Filter and clean the oil off prior to installing it in the STOCK airbox, you should be fine. As for O2 bung extensions, they seem to be a band-aid at best from my experience. They allow you to run a little longer without seeing the C.E.L. but eventually it comes on, you really need at least a set of sport cats in there OR programming to take into consideration the fact that you don't have CATs any longer.
Read your codes, clean your air filter and MAF and look into a set of High Flow CATs to make the problem go away... That's where I'd start at least.
