Painted headlights

well after messing around w/photoshop...I'd decided to bite the bullet & painted my headlights..I was planning on buying the cover & do some mod on it but that's just too much work..After it was prep, primed, & painted, I took it to the bodyshop to have it clear coated b/c I wanted to cure faster (1 day) rather than me clear coated myself & waited a week..it cost about $100, but well worth it.

here's the results..what do you think???

thanks,
I scored the masked oultine with an exacto knife slowly & it comes out pretty straight..I used a thin black pinstripe to refined the line...it turns out great..

thanks guys,
that's one of my concern too... so I used 1 whole can of primer & 2 cans basecoat...that's plenty of thickness( I hope)...
I'd told the bodyshop to spray extra clear coating...so we'll see...

I've been contemplating this and also messing around in Photoshop to get a better visual.

The only thing still left me wondering is how much better it would look if the inside trim ring piece around the headlight lense was also body color instead of chrome.

Nice job either way.

I was thinking about doing something like this but only doing the bottom of the lights to make it look like the mkII lights.

Obviously just my opinion but something just does not look right. It looks too fake with the 997 bumper and painted headlights. Maybe it looks better in person??? I complement your attempt at painting the headlights as I am not a big fan of these lights either and there is no cheap or easy solution. Every time I think about them, I think what should I do to my own.
