tiptronic transmission mount

Has anyone sucessfully replaced a tip tranny mount? The part number I've found is 996 375 055 05. The 99-01 tip's are the only year/tranny where the dealer will not replace. They don't want to touch them except reccommend a new tranny. No thanks.
Anyways, the mount seems to be pressed in so taking the old one out and new one in isn't going to be fun. I have found a material that I may use to fill in the mount voids without removing the tranny.
Has anyone had any luck?

From what I've researched, the 99-01 tranny mounts are extremely difficult to replace as they have to be pressed out and new one pressed in unlike the 02+. I had my guy remove all the bolts holding the tranny on the front end and basically my tranny mount was shot. The rubber surrounding the center metal piece was shot and was hitting metal to metal hence the clunking/vibration and got scary at higher speed. I could move the whole trans/engine up/down/sideways easily by pushing on it. I had the mount centered and filled the empty space with silicone/filler. Most of the vibration is gone and no more clunking. Check your motor mounts and tranny mount also if you have vibration or turn feels sloppy. I've just passed 109k miles so I guess it was about time.

So the dealer wants to replace the transmission, for $5,000+ rather than replace the rubber in the mount. Unbelievable!! Yes they are a pain to press out and replace, a poor design to begin with. But to replace the whole transmission, what a (bad) joke!

Yes, the dealer actually wanted way more than that hahaha.
After the tranny was lowered a few inches, tranny mount was confirmed to be shot. It was actually rubbing/hitting metal to metal. I had it filled with silicone and the clunking has gone away. There is some vibration but I think its due to a combination of harder engine mount and the tranny mount silicone which was very stiff.
What did you do to yours API3517?

Is the transmission mount for the 6-speed manual also difficult to change?

geetee, I bought the mount for 340.00 and did the job myself. You will need a lift and depending on the mount about 2-3 hrs to get it knocked out and new one put in. If you decide to do it I can send you the info on the plumbing cap I used to knock it out and the process. Good luck! Al

Yes. Please post a DIY. I'm going to wait until the silicone filler fails before I put her on the lift again. Hopefully it'll last a while.
You must have used vertexauto's retrofit kit? The actual mount with the metal surround is only 60.00 (996 375 055 05). It seems like vertexauto is selling one without the metal surround for easier installation.
