Rough start for my DD after a 10 day break
For the past 2+ years I have used my 2003 996 Targa as a daily driver. It has 40K miles on it and is maintained properly. I recently tore a calf muscle playing soccer with my 15 yr old and had to park the 911 in the garage. It just kills my leg when I try to push in the clutch. Long story short but I recently restarted the car after about a week or so and it had a terribly rough, almost metallic sound to it. She kicked out a bunch of blue smoke and took a couple minutes to warm up. The car is back to normal now but given how most folks do not use their 911's every week, is this normal? I had thought that after less than a 10 day break she would start like usual???
Leg is on the mend. Not quite ready for long commutes but I can at least drive my car a little. The 15 yr old has offered to help but I cannot quite afford the clutch damage that will follow his lessons on my baby .

Yeah it is normal, let it warm up for little while and take it for spins without been to hard. At least that was my experience, my pistons were even knocking after a while of driving the noise went away and I was back to normal. Good luck with your tore calf muscle, let it rest and try to keep elevated. I am a long distance runner and sometimes I get a difficult time shifting also because of knee pain, or shin splints.
