The oil pressure system is not intended to be a precision measuring system.

As long as the gage gives you some reasonable reading at hot idle and again at engine speeds above 3K (with the oil hot) and doesn't jump around that's about all you can ask. Well, expect.

I've never run my Porsches with a real nice oil pressure gage attached but I have had one installed in other cars and the gage needle dances like crazy. One can get a good reading under some conditions but the oil pressure varies considerably with engine rpms.

If the stock oil pressure gage wasn't dampened I believe more owners would be upset than the handful, well, one I know of, who is upset his gage doesn't read zero.

The oil pressure gage requires input and there is none, there is no sensor signal being received by the DME (or least none being processed) and thus there is no reading.reading at all being supplied when you turn the key on.

BTW, it looks like your engine's oil level is too full.

Worry about that rather than the gage.

+ 1; Either clean it or replace it. FYI, the dipstick is your most accurate reading. Good luck.
