Aftermarket seat heater install

Since I have the stock seats out from the Status Ring install, I decided to add heater elements to the stock seats in order help with sale of the 996 cabriolet, seen in avatar above. It worked out great since I was able to reinforce the foam with E 6000 glue at the same time.

(I will update photos when I complete)

Tools
2x pliers
Small Phillips (two screws in seat switch panel)
Std screwdriver (used to pry white connector holding bottom cushion)
24 zip ties (I used large ties in the back cushion and small in the bottom)
Two heater kits
E-torx (E12) and socket

1. Disconnect battery
2. Remove seats (Std screwdriver to remove covers then remove 4x E-torx bolts)
3. Disassemble cushions (see https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...r-cushion.html)
4. Remove hog rings from cushions with a set of pliers

5. Lay out element and make sure to tuck into the folds (adhesive down) mark target areas for cutting.

6. Thread zip ties where the hog rings used to be

7. Fold and cut 1" hole to allow access to hog ring attachment area (I had to shift the bottom element to the side to not hit the power lines) See example hole cut laid above where the zip ties go through the holes. (Don't cut the power rails seen on either side of elements)

8. Remove adhesive and place back onto seats, again make sure to tuck into the folds and push zip through the element.
9. Reverse the disassemble process for cover and thread wiring through area where wires will not be pinched.
10. Zip tie the relay and harness under the seat and plug in both elements.
11. Use fuse tap to get power from fuse box, run to 10amp external fuse and to wiring harness under the shifter center console. Ground seat heater wiring under seat.
12. Drill hole for switch and complete wiring connections.
13. Connect all seat plugs and test heater functionality prior to bolting back up.

This page was a big help with the process:
