Engine additive

Hello Group, my 996 is approaching 135K miles and is running great. However, I am considering an additive to give the engine a little help. Can anyone suggest a good additive for our cars?? I would like to add it on my next oil change. Thanks in advance.....

I've read a bunch of pros and cons about oil additives. When adding an oil additive, you're basically concerned with viscosity, or thickness, when flowing through your engine. If the viscosity is too high it won't flow freely through the moving parts. Too low and it will just be like water slipping through your fingers. Oil manufacturers produce motor oil with different viscosities already. If your Porsche was running ok with the oil you have been using, I'd just stick with that and not mix with any additives. I have 141,000 miles on mine and use a 10-40 synthetic. I have no oil drips or smoking from the exhaust. My opinion of oil additives is like someone putting a bandage on a wound. If it's broken fix it. If it isn't, leave it alone.

I've used Restore on previous cars with oil consumption but if your not having a problem with oil consumption then probably don't need any additives?

I had the oil changed today and decided to go with tried and true Mobil 1 sans additive. I did also flush the manual tranny and put Motul 300 which seems even quieter than before. Today is a good day, my baby is running like a new 996
